Raised a full sister to the Rudy dog
I loved and hated that female.
Showed her one caged coon at 9 months old then released two more. Hunted her alone through first season and she treed 28 coons in 14 nights before early snow shut us down. At 22 months old, first night of the season, she treed and I killed 10 coons. Second night she treed and I killed 19 coons, and I didn't get started til 10:30 that night. While I skinned she'd pick off the rest of the litter checking all the nearby trees. Never quite learned to move a track to my satisfaction and pure hell about wanting to fight another dog unless they were kenneled near each other for a time. Got treed and STAYED TREED. LOUDEST mouth i've ever heard. Started carrying set of earmuffs for going to her trees. Seriously, it was more than painful. You'd think she was treed 150 yards away and find her in 1/4 mile. Outstanding conformation and handling. I could call her off any track or tree and could heel her through a crowd of other dogs tied out or anywhere else without a lead. Fences were no object. You couldn't keep her in an 8 foot chain link pen without laying a gate over the top. Never trashed after easy correction on deer. Zero interest in possum. Sold her to older hide hunter after her third season. He called a couple years ago when she died and wanted another. Said she was the best hound he'd ever seen and treed a truckload of hides every season for him and his son.
I've never had a hound since that could come close to piling up as many coons as she could in the early season. If any of you fellas decides to breed to this Tracer dog late this fall or winter and has a track drifting female that is easy around other dogs PLEASE call or PM.
Thanks,
Dave
