John, If you bred this female I would like to have a female. I have hunted with Tim and Ranger a lot with my Froggie female over the year's. Tim and I have hunted ranger in all types of conditions. Ranger was always a COON DOG. I have had some set backs in my life over the past few years and I feel like hunting again. God is good....Doug Linn

I'll let you know Doug. Me and my buddy got a male and two female pups from that Astro x Sally cross and they all started real easy and do a good job. I'd probably wait a little while longer to breed Beauty just to get her finished out first but Ranger isn't getting any younger and although he still hunts hard and covered a female the other day you just never know when age will catch up with them and you will lose a chance to make an outstanding cross. That cross would double up Turk and he is up over 10% now on reproducing numbers. Plus there is a lot of the Mad Dog blood in that cross along with other proven bloodlines that have made their mark. Could be a great cross.

Will do Doug. I'll try to get some pictures of Beauty on here soon. She is one good looking female and looks even better when she is pounding on the wood at about 120 barks a minute.

Also, thanks for the compliment on Ranger. I bought him as a finished dog but I have talked to a lot of seasoned coon hunters who have hunted with him. None of them have described what he is good at, they just say simply that he is a Coon Dog. That is about as high of a praise as any dog can get in my opinion.

Sassy ended up fatter than a butterball and false pregnant. She has been hard to catch in the past so that didn't surprise me although I was disappointed.

I was starting to worry about Beauty but she is having pups now. She didn't get real big but has had two big healthy looking pups so far. I though we might have bred her too early and she was 3 or 4 days past due so I was probably right. That may be all the pups she has but as long as they are healthy and end up making coon dogs that is all that matters.

She just had the two pups which are big and healthy. Could see the blue in their hide right after they were born. One female and one male. I had a feeling that I got her bred a little too soon when for the next four days she was acting frisky toward the females beside her in the pens but Karen just wanted to breed her the one time so we didn't take a risk on her having too many pups in her first litter since we didn't know what kind of mother she would be. Turns out that she is an excellent mother and if these two pups turn out to look and act the way that I would expect them too then I will use one of Ranger's breedings I have on ice on her in the future. The more I study the pedigree the more I like the cross. If we decide to let this female go then you are the first person that I will let know.

I've been hunting Ranger lately and trying to let him enjoy what time he has left. He is 10 years old now and still loves to go hunting and is still a turn him loose and get him off of a tree type dog that is a pleasure to hunt. I've decided to not enroll him in the performance program for 2017 as I will not be breeding any of my personal females to him this year. I have 4 breedings stored on him at Nevergone that I can use in the future which will likely be on grandaughters of his. If anyone would still like to breed to him just give me a call and we can work out the details if interested.

I have had some interest in some females being bred to Ranger in 2017 so I decided to go ahead and pay up his performance fees for 2017. Ranger pedigree is lined with some of the top hounds and reproducers of some of the top long term bluetick breeders and promoters. He should cross well on about any line of bluetick as he has a combination of bloodlines in him and he is a very balanced dog. I would recommend him as a stud for anyone that has a line bred female who is looking for some outcross blood without it being a total outcross.
