There is a big difference between someone who is after the hides to make some money and the type of guys I am talking about...I doubt you were ever one of these. No, the ones we had around here hunted year around...they absolutely shot every thing they saw. Not just treed with dogs, if they saw a layup on the edge of a cornfield or marsh it got knocked out.
Not much game can stand that kind of pressure.
Hide hunters are regulated and have a season that is set to preserve the resource. I never could figure out what these guys around here were trying to "preserve"...their ego I guess.
The funny thing is they never had good dogs...if killing coons made dogs better they should have all been hunting a world class hound!!!!

This was catfish tonite. Dropped the tailgate and 10 to 15 minutes later he was hammerin hard on a red oak 450 yards into the thick timber. And had one starin at us.

well guys finaly took the blue dog out last nite wasn't a good nite sorta hot and dry got 1 track it was off a feder went about 10 ft up a big oak never found the coon with all the leaves but ole blue look pretty good standin on that tre
