Rule question

3 dog cast, all 3 split strike for 75 on first turn loose. 2 dogs tree and get scored. When they turn back loose, what is the next available strike, 50 or 25?

strike pts.

25, 50 was already used until all dogs are released at same time again. Take care, Ron.

That is a brain teaser. The 3rd dog is carrying 75 points so the next available is 50 but the 3rd dog is carrying 3rd strike so the next available is 4th strike or 25 points. Oh my goodness, what a quandry.
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Looking for more replies. This happened last night in a hunt, not my cast. The moh told the cast that 50 was the next available position to be filled. And most everyone in the club agreed with him, i did not! Lol. Let's here what you all think. It's pretty cut and dry to me.

Pretty cut and dried?? Did the dog still out have first, second or third strike? Did the dog's that were treed have first, second or third strike? The dog still out had 75 points so how could you say he was carrying 3rd strike? You could argue either way all night, nothing cut and dried about it.

Mr. Lambert

The OP stated that the 3 dogs had split the strike points and each had 75 points, thus the strike had been taken for the first 3 positions. Only 2 dogs treed, so the strike points were still taken for the first 3 positions and all that's left is 4 strike or 25 points. It really is plain and simple, no need in over thinking anything, until the 3rd dogs strike is finished only 4th place is available. Dave

Add me to the opinion of first 3 strike positions are taken, leaving only 4th (25) available.

I can't believe this is a discussion. Three dogs are struck. What's left?

Dog A strikes for 100. Dog B strikes for 75. Dog C strikes for 50. Dog A and C tree and are recast back into B. Dog A strikes in for 50 because that is next available position.
Now dogs A,B and C split strike. When A and B are recast, C is still carrying 75. Since he is carrying a split strike of 75, what position was he struck in at? He couldn't be carrying 3rd strike because A and B had part of the split strike. He is carrying a split strike of 75, not a 3rd strike of 50, so A or B can be struck in at 50.
If A and B are struck in at 25, you won't show a 50 strike on the score card. When you turn the scorecard in the MOH will ask, what happened to 50 strike?

First three strike positions are taken and divided up equally on the split (75 each ). All that's left is forth (25).

When a strike position is taken up by a dog and that dog is scored, strike position then become available again. What position did Dog C have? Hint: 75 points. And Dog C could not carry all 3 positions. There were 2 other dogs to consider. Why are y'all automatically assuming that Dog C was carrying 3rd strike? Yes, first, second and third were split, maybe Dog C was carrying first. Hint: dog C had 75 points.

No equal parts of 1st, 2nd and 3rd are taken by each of the 3.

If it was a 4 dog cast, three split strike the forth dog doesn't have 50 waiting on him

When you add first, second and third strike and divide by 3, you are giving 1/3rd of each to each dog.
Do the math. Dog C is only carrying 1/3rd of 3rd strike because A and B have two thirds which is open again. Two thirds of 50 is 33.33 plus 25 for fourth which is also still open means that Dog A should actually strike for 58.33.

I told y'all that it was a brain teaser. No one ever answered which came first.

Maybe this is why PKC rule states that anytime you "strike back in" , it is for 25 no matter what.
