I have a litter planned. Ken Fischer has a litter planned. You also may want to check with the Harpers out in Oklahoma..

yes. Not back in the old days. Use to be a coonhound or a dug grave, but not now. After readin some on here, as long as you can post an reply the dog dont even need to hunt. Some have always had different thinkin. Like if it has the right blood even if it cant find a coon in a cage breed it. Or if a one year old got tied to a female accidentlly and had pups that it is a top reproducer. So i guess it depends on what you think. Mac what is the youngest you ever bred a dog? IMO Try to hunt the best bury the rest, but my way of thinkin may be out dated. What is your way of thinkin?

Brood gyps

Puppy mills has brood gyps. I can't imagine a reason to breed any female that doesn't have outstanding abilities in the woods as a coondog.

You might want to ignore me because my way of thinking might be old fashions and out dated.

if they can't run and tree, i don't breed them,,
,and i don't breed just to sale pups,
,i breed when i want a pair to work with or my friends,,
,the last time i bred i gave 4 of the pups away to young hunters,,,,
,if a hound don't hunt and tree they are gone

This is how it is supposed to be done!

Far too many females bred that are inferior.

A lot of this type of breeding is done just because of a bloodline or attempt to keep a bloodline alive.

Hunt hard, cull often, and only breed the best you have. Blueticks would be a lot better off.

Just my opinion...

I have owned a couple of males that I knew were very special at a young age. One of these was bred at around 18-20 months old.

I can see no reason to breed hounds any younger than that. I wouldn't breed a female younger than 2, more like 3. Just my preference...
