Q: Toys, Bait and Clickers in the Show Ring

I know there's the rule about no toys, clickers or bait allowed in the show ring, but what about practice in the show ring beforehand? Just wondering if I can give my pup treats while practicing on the bench before the actual show.
Thanks!
Laura

Why not? It's not disciplining the pup, and your not in competition...
Just curious cuz I can't think of why not

I have used both toys and bait in the show ring at warm up time to get a young dog comfortable in that atmosphere. But, I don't bring either into the show ring when I am called in to be judged.

I dont see where it would hurt a thing! Just dont drop treats on the show ring floor or you will have a bunch of distracted dogs during the show! That happened to me before! "Leave it" isnt in Mundars vocabulary. Lol. I have never used treats ot bait with mine but I think I will with my pup starting her.

How I take it is you would get disqualified for sure if you brought bait, toys or a clicker into the ring "During" the show. But, the rule doesn't specify if it's not allowed at all or just while the show is in progress.
Maybe from now on I'll ask the judge beforehand.

Laura...it would be my opinion that the bench show rules (no bait, no grooming tools, etc.) only apply to that time during the actual licensed bench show and that those same rules would not apply to practicing at any other time.

Q:Toys ,bait and clickers in the show ring.

I would think that if the dog was any good at all you would not need to bribe or coerce them to do something that you would hope the would like to do for just some praise not bribery.
