One of the reasons I bought the Tree Blaster semen was to get the foundation dogs back, look how many times Ole Blaster had Banjo and others.

.

Over the years I have heard many things about Johnsons Banjo. My only experience with him was one from a magazine but it had an everlasting effect on me. Back in the 60's like a lot of young lads, going to the grocery store was something I did on a regular basis with Mom. I will have to admit that it wasn't my favorite thing to do except when the visit was right around the first of the month. My first stop in the store was the magazine rack and there were three magazines I was scoping out. Sports Afield, Outdoor Life and Field and Stream. Looking for any stores about dogs or hounds. Well, I found one on Johnsosns Banjo. Reading that story was another building block that was the foundation of me loving tree hounds and the walker breed.

Anyone on here remember seeing that story in Outdoor Life?

I have always wondered why Banjo was just a nt ch , he challenged everyone to a hunt at one time in a add, this is not meant to take anything away from him I just always wondered why?

My First

My first Walker was out of Dyson's Banjo Man, (might have spelled it wrong), does anyone remember this dog and if so, how close was he to Johnson's Banjo? I never had a 3 gen ped on him. I hear everyone say how Johnson's Banjo put the tree in the walkers, but the dog I had was a cold nosed track driving fool. I honestly can not name a dog that could get a first strike on him without babbling. He was only a steady 40 - 50 bark tree dog, but did tree and stay. My buddy was hunting one he said was off Finley River Chief and back then, the name Finley River Chief was just another dogs name to me, now Major was a classy tree dog, these Two hunted 300 nights a year together and made a good team. This was back in 1976...

He is also the man who made the Hillbilly Mac. Rock River Banjo, Beaver Lake Magic crosses that I always see so many of you post on here about. I trained alot of the dogs that I see metioned on here all the time. The original Gump, Star, Cry, Rock River Banjos Bing, Mac, Queenie, and several others. I love to read about dogs that I hunted, or freinds around here hunted. I remember several of them as pups when Bill sent them to my house to be started.
In my opinion, Bill Reddick never got the credit he deserved for making those crosses. They are they foundation of what alot of the Hillbilly Mac, Banjo lines today being promoted.

My favorite was the CRY female tho. She was something special. She ended her life in the kennels of Archie Dore. Another smart breeder of that line of dogs.
Cry was a littermate to Forrest Wood Dan.

I talked to Archie today, he was talking about Cry, he said she was the best female he ever hunted, treed 7 single raccoons in a hunt in West Texas against a son of Lipper that was a hot hound in them days they called Big Ears,he said Big Ears wasn't even in the game !!!!

I never saw the ad's but the 2 youngest dogs i have now carry house tomtom 33 plus times best i can trace. They are the normal size dogs from the 70's not the great dane size dogs you see nowadays . Yep. I am still alive . Due to working in oilfields last 8 yrs on nightshift has put my hunting on back burner..
