had a fair year of hound dogging with lots of action and plenty of ups and downs. for the first time in years didnt have the two good old dogs with trix dead and minn finally slowed down to make the big picture look good for the program. LOL. on top of that all my local buddies that had amazing dogs were in same boat with dogs dead, old, or family life taking over hunting. main dog sky has done pretty fair job overall and just turned 3. i cuss her to much comparing her to ancestors even when she has some points that outshine the dogs ive had and friends had that were better in different ways. there was a stretch i flat out over hunted her and marathon hunting isnt always best thing.

we have had mild winter compared to usual but i got thinking awhile back and checked weather data and havent had measurable precip in over 2 months and dumb sky still catches coon almost every time dropped in some conditions that are not great for tracking.

skys littermate spayed dog is quircky wierd dog that will probably never be a coondog. i couldnt move her for family reasons so kept hunting her with sky and finally is doing decent job with her sister to where can tolerate and even enjoy taking her. i gotta have a get it done solo coondog but absolutely love a pair of dogs that work together and gain chemistry that becomes deadly catching coon. hoping these two continue to work together better and better but end of day still got 1 1/2 dogs at best unless spayed dog turns into the late bloomer always waited for. got a young male dog working with some but he aint figured out gotta go hunting and good things will happen. should start happening here soon if he wants to work here. my goal for upcoming year is to get decent male dog started and trained, still never had one. im to bull headed to ever buy a good dog but starting dogs from retard pup to whatever they turn into is some punishing hard work and like gambling. sure lotta fun though in between all the misery.
