Thank you very much for the response Allen. I was the one with the dog on the snag. I just wanted a clarification on how it should have been scored. The tree was scored plus, but I believe if I would have won the cast it would have been questioned at the end to the master of hounds. Their was a lot of discussion at the tree and throughout the rest of the cast about it if you know what I mean.

So they seen fur and didn't want to plus it and they wanted to question if you could tap on a tree? Guys like that are going to question everything anyway. Next time you draw one of them that wanted to question you tapping on the tree tell them you are going to scratch them next time one of their dogs trees a den. Isn't a dog jumping on it and scratching, chewing and barking at it disturbing it also? My point is its ridiculous that this is even a discussion.

Around here we do everything we can do for the entire shining time to score a dogs tree short of climbing it or smoking it out. Most all of us if we are honest poke sticks in holes, shake vines beat on trees with rocks. It takes a POS hunter to want to scratch you for trying to score a dogs tree.

I would rather just walk away from holes in the ground without screwing around or logs laying on ground. Lol

So..... in other words you pick and choose what situations to score and or not? Where in the rules does it provide to just walk away and not scoring a likely off-game situation?

You are required, by rule, to score EVERY situation. That means the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Sounds like that needs to be a topic for next month's Advisor.

Why not just put them on a leash and "walk out" the last 20 minutes??? That would solve the whole problem, score the good, walk off the bad and ugly. As long as everyone agrees...problem solved!!!!

So, should we poke a stick in a hole to see if there is anything alive in there?

Nothing personal Allen, but one could say how UKC picks and chooses the tools to use to score situations. If we are required by rule to score EVERY situation (my interpretation is that you are meaning the hunters will do everything in their legal power to accurately score the situation). UKC wants us to be honest and score EVERY situation accurately but picks and chooses what tools we can and can not use. example being no mirrors or camera allowed in the use of scoring a situation but yet you can pick up sticks and start disturbing holes, dens, place of refuge. Hmmm IMO kinda sounds a double standard. UKC wants hunters to accurately and honestly score EVERY situation then they should be able to use the necessary tools.

Would help deter and keep hunters more honest....otherwise, I guess its leash them up quickly and move on and circle it up.
