That's great to hear about sweet southern Belle! I had just heard similar results from her sister just last night. Turkey pups are making a lot of happy hunters this winter which is what matters the most to me.

There is a pair of turkey pups in North Central Missouri that is really putting a hurting on the coon population. Mike Houston owns a female from the first turkey litter, she treed 83 coons last season and is on track to beat that number. He recently took on another pup out of turkey x Nt ch Farr Ramblin Red Dolly, he has quickly become a very nice 15 mo old coonhound. Very smart and a natural ability to split tree with a coon. I plan on borrowing them to comp hunt this upcoming summer.

Hunted 2 of turkeys daughters last night. The darker female is Crooked River Red Ruby and the other is sweet Georgia chrome. Ruby is turkey x Nt ch Jims red amber and Georgie is turkey x Nt ch rockers Mississippi Queen. I've lost the option of posting video so a picture is the best I can do. These 2 young females did a great job last night. I've had Ruby out for the last 5 nights in a row and she's treeing a coon on almost every drop.

My dogs are trashy apparently. I took turkey and Ruby for a short hunt last night before the snow arrived. Treed a single and this den tree. Ruby is getting faster, she went 1st and 1st on turkey on the den.

She is out of the Amber female. When she gets on a good track, she can smoke the old dogs. On a bad track, she is still learning. She will grub and freeze you out. lol I credit the Fireball there. She trees a lot better by herself or if she trees first. She will cover, but her heart is not in it. She has been straight the whole time, never offered to trash.

Brown is back here for a while. Im hopefully just keeping him warm, fed and hunted for Smoke while he is busy. Glad to see him again. We are going tonight since the heat wave has got us up into the teens.

Hopefully his sister Sadie and a few others will hit the hunts this spring.

Brown did not disappoint. 10 degrees with the windchill here last night. Made a hole in the ground, a big oak den and a layup coon. He looked sharp and is a real nice dog. If they can tree one this time of year with wind, snow and cold, they are the right kind.

I took this picture after a fight with a ticked off 20lb boar coon tonight. Left to right, Slick, Turkey and Ruby. It's nice having intelligent dogs, I'm able to handle 3 dogs while hunting alone without a bunch of nonsense.

Missouri coon season comes to an end tonight. I was unable to go hunting due to a work situation but I've had turkey and a couple young ones out the past 3 nights. I'll be going into the off season with a couple promising young turkey dogs. I received messages from 4 different turkey pup owners tonight and all 4 had treed a coon or two. Mike Houston was hunting Mack (turkey x Nt ch Farr Ramblin Red Dolly) and he was just leading him away from his 77th coon for the season. A fair amount of turkey pups are making coondogs if they're actually hunted and fooled with.

This is Copper. Shes a littermate to NtCh Bad News Brown. Shes a nice tree dog with a good mouth. Trained by a father son team that knew nothing about coon dogs. Trained without a pup trainer. Never hunted with another dog till I got this pic the other night. Turkey is doing his part

Fantastic Kyle! I will never forget her climbing into that hole in that den tree that nite a year ago when we hunted. She showed a lot of promise that nite and is showing that all that work you gave her paid off. Finish her off buddy. Turkey pups are really starting to show up nicely in the hunts. I know of 3 or 4 more that are ready to compete.
