Advice from the old farmer :)

The old farmer pulled up in the field with the fairly young farmer in comparison..It was hot and he had had a break down in the field..The old farmer said you need to buy you some new equipment?? Young farmer asked him why...You cant make hay with that old stuff..The young farmer had already put up enough for this winter and was working on next winters crop..The old farmer looked at his old cows and told him you need to get you some younger cows..Young farmer said probably so but they arent but 22 years old..Old farmer said you cant raise no calves off them old cows..Young farmer said you probably right I didnt get but 24 this spring off them 25 cows but old bertha has got one inside her and is gonna drop any day..The old farmer told him you need to get you a new truck too..The young farmer said probably so but it doesnt have but 300,000 miles on it the rest of them over there have close to 500,000...
The old farmer has been farming about three years..Retired from a factory job wearing a hard hat everyday bossing round 18 yr old kids ..the young farmers family has been farming for 6 generations and are actually millionaires several times over and dont try to give a whole lot of advice but when they do most learn to listen ...Watch where your advice comes from whether coonhunting or farming!!

I get mine from Tarbabty cause he has been doing this for years and years and years. I am not going to listen to some youngster who has only been hunting 4-10 years. I just love it when a hunter who has been comp hunting less than 5 years has all of the answers.

Richard ,John remember one thing what ever the changes are this is very important!!! The public is going to have to like the ideas well enough to get behind them and support them and work their ass off to make it thrive !! These clubs were I am are closed for good the old folks are doing other things because they got tired of the young ones walking in like a bunch of celebrities 10 minutes before draw and leaving after the hunt without lifting a finger just not the way we were taught if these young ones want it they are going to have to work for it nobody is going to wet nurse them. Now I hope it gets exciting as crap because I am retired I can drive where the action is and I will lol.

I know guys that have been doing it all their life and know less about it then guys that have been at it 5 or 6 years. If someone is unwise it doesn't matter how long they have been doing something. Don't discount the young guy because his ideas are different from the way its always been done, and don't ever mistake age or experience for wisdom.

Not listening to youngsters is why our club only gets the same 6 old guys to the meetings anymore. And I doubt our club is the only one seeing this happen.

Jim

Who's doing the work at your club? What I have seen in my area is the younger guys just want to hunt and not work in the club, [ not all, but most ]. Dave

When I was younger and first started, the older guys did all of the work and us younger guys just showed up and hunted. Now the young guys are older and they do all of the work while a new crew of young guys just show up and hunt. And the old, old guys just sit around, talk about the good old days and complain.

Richard I guess I am a little earlier than that we didn't have $$$ hunts our ukc hunts were fund raisers for our club hunts for money for trophys and lights and dog boxes ect for our club hunts and buddy hunts when you had 60 dogs show up you hosted them cooked put on different day events and the young guys judged the ntch and grntch cast so you often times did not get to hunt your own dog young people had a lot of responsibility back then.

But those young people don't stay young. Where are they now? You have to let them grow into their role, assume more responsibility and eventually take over. If you try to keep control and don't let them feel like it is their club too, then they will quit on you.

Yep I am ready for them too !! Just for instance there is a club 60 miles from me that was shut down the building is paid for still $3,000 in the bank they approached me about trying to open it back up I got to calling around and those old grouchy suckers were so negative on everything and me not from there I am limited on what I could do. if I had 6 young enthusiastic hunters from there just to guide I could make it work but they just ain't there. Corey has big ideas but we have that same problem here plus the young ones here like the one hour $$$ hunts they can hit 4 of those a week. I have done all I can do ready for the changes even if I have to drive to get to them.

Chuck I am going to be the big dummy on purpose from now on that way when stuff turns to dookie they can't blame me been hearing it was my fault for 40 yrs Sombody else's turn to take the blame kinda like the misprint in the adviser I was right for 4 pages of comments all those boys told me I was wrong then instead of saying I was right they said it was a misprint and went to their safe spot do they think 40 yrs of looking at that card I don't know what's on it but those 10 yr veterans they got it all figured out.

Pass the popcorn please lmbo.
