Hello everyone!

We will be doing a Play by Play of the Final cast at the World hunt this year, like always. I will be posting the PBP right here. It will also be posted on our Facebook page, which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/UKCcoonhounds/?ref=br_rs

I will try to post a direct link to the Facebook post once it is up.

So, remember to check back here around 8pm-ish on Saturday and we will get things going! (Don't forget that if you're at the World, you are welcome to sit with us at the headquarters building and watch as the PBP is posted)

Tonight is the night! We have three dogs in our final cast tonight in Elberton, GA. Three dogs with a lot of power. These dogs have done more than enough to prove themselves and make it this far.

First on the card is CH GRNITECH 'PR' NELSON'S NORTHERN ROXANNE. Roxanne is a 7 year old female from Woodville, IN. Owned by Patrick Stewart and Bobby Talley, Bobby has handled Roxanne on her journey here. The partners have had Roxanne for a little over 15 months now, and they've already done some pretty big winning. Bobby says this appearance is an accident and wasn't even a plan!

Second on the card is GRNITECH 'PR' Smith & Strangs Lone Pine M$ Baby. Baby is a 3 year old female from Kittanning, PA. Owned by Randy Smith and Tom Strang, Baby has been handled by Rick Strouser. Rick, Randy, and Tom are no strangers to the World Hunt. Last year, the crew brought Lone Pine Biffy Sue and were crowned the 2016 Coonhound World Nite Hunt Champion.

Third on the card is a first for the dog and for the category! GRNITECH Bad Habit Sam is a 4 year old XBred male from Holly Hill, SC. Owned by Elliot Shuler, and Robbie Rhodes, Sambo is no newbie when it comes to winning. Handled by Robbie, Sambo has done plenty of winning in PKC, placed fourth at the Grand American this year, but this is his first time seeing the UKC Coonhound World Finals.

The cast is a colorful one this year. Will the dog with a winners history take the crown? Or will the familiar Lone Pine blood pull off back to back World wins? Maybe we will crown our FIRST X-Bred Coonhound World Champion. We'll find out when the two hours run out.

The cast left the grounds around 8:38pm. It's a HUMID 74 degrees out. The judges had a few brief pre - hunt comments here at the grounds. Good luck wishes along with a prayer from Kevin Rowe. The cast is driving about 10 minutes to their first drop. These woods haven't been touched all week.

Judging the cast tonight is Phillip Foster who is assisted by Kevin Rowe. Mark Looney is their guide.

8:51pm - The cast has arrived to their first spot. They are driving down a two track and back in they go. Should be a minute til they cut loose.
Update from myself, the cast most likely has VERY poor signal, so please bare with us on the delay in updates.

Cast has cut the dogs loose! Roxy strikes in after the minute for 100 followed by Baby for 75. Nothing from Sam right away.

Sam struck in for 50! All three dogs are about 500 yards or further in front of the cast.

Baby falls treed for 125! Roxy falls in behind her for 75.

Before arriving to the girls' tree, Sam trees in split for 125! He's about 75 yards to the right of the girls.

The girls' tree is dead. The judge chose to circle it. The cast is headed to Sam.

The cast found eyeballs! Sam is plussed.

There is an hour and a half left in the hunt. The cast is walking a little ways and then re-cutting.

Allen hears a dog running the creek in front of them. Water splashing about 40 yards. No one has struck in.

One dog truned back behind the cast where they just came from, but has now circled back by the cast again.

They've got a bark on the creek, but no call. Dog is working the creek and going left. Another is in the creek going right handed

Baby opened once in front of the cast, but there was no call.

Sam is struck to the the right for 100! Struck in on the first bark. Made two barks and the 8 is working

Baby Struck in for 75 down in the creek to the left. Breaks the 8 on Sam. Roxy can be heard between the creek and the cast

Roxy opens. Strike her in for 50! Tree her right there for 125, also! Baby is still opening down in the creek to the left.

Roxy's tree is dead. No one else is feeling it quite like she is.

Roxy was on a previously scored tree. Her strike and tree are deleted. She is re-cast and struck right back in for 50!

The cast has walked up the hillside away from the dogs. Baby is still working the creek to the left and opening periodically.

They haven't heard from Sam in a while, but heard a dog coming toward the cast from the right, splashing in the creek. Must be Sam as they have a location on Baby and Roxy...or maybe there's something with sharper teeth over there.

It got quiet and they started the 8, but Roxy broke it. Sounds like she's in front of the cast and near the creek around Baby. Baby singing a little song now as well.

This just in...Allen has been misinforming us all...that creek is actually Lake Russel...Who hired this guy?

This lake is even the same lake he and Curtis Sparks played on Thursday morning. Allen is looking for the Calloway ball Curtis shanked off to the right on the 12 tee box.

Roxy moved on out. She just opened once about 600 yards off in front and to the right around the edge of the abnormally large creek Allen has been telling us about.

Sam is off in the same area and has opened twice. The cast is moving in that direction. Dropping down off the hillside AKA the face of the Earth because I'm sure we won't be hearing from them for a while down there.

Stationary running on Baby with 53 minutes left.

Rick trees Baby in for 125!

Recap; The cast had started making a loop around the left side of the lake. Baby got back around behind the cast on the right side of the lake where she treed. She was on a previously scored tree and her strike and tree were deleted. Sam came into the cast before they arrived to Baby's tree and was minused his 100 strike points. Sam was not handled and took off again. The cast is walking away from Baby's tree to recast her.

The cast has stopped and are waiting for a dog to open before turning Baby loose again.

Roxy opened out in front of the cast and Baby is re-cast.

Baby circled back around to the cast and is taking a break. Judge Foster has the clock running on Baby.

Baby is gnawing on branches by the cast. Her belly can be heard bubble a little bit. She better get out of there or her chances of taking home the crown will be over. 6 gone on her.

The clock was also running on Roxy, but Allen didn't know...again, who hired this guy? Time is close on Roxy. She better open soon.

Baby got caught up on her breath and took off again. The clock is lifted.

Roxy was minused 50. All strikes opened up. Roxy struck in again for 100! Baby falls in with her for 75. 29 minutes left.

Scorekeeper John Seginak is sitting on his behind taking a break. Robbie Rhodes is sprawled out on the ground as well. Foster better start the clock on the two of them as well.

Not much of a track. Neither Roxy nor Baby have opened in a bit. 8 is working with 25 left.

None of the handlers are singing any praises right now. Just the opposite, actually. Time is winding down.

8 is broke! Roxy opened off in the distance several times back towards the truck. About 560 yards.

Sam strikes in for 50!

Dogs are moving deep and the cast is headed their way.

The cast has made their way back to the two track to listen. A dog is heard! Allen says they sound to be WAY in there. Echoes off in the distance. Sounds like Baby may be working a tree. 11 minutes left.

Baby is off to the right. Roxy and Sam are left of Baby.

Baby is treed for 125! Her locate sounded pretty convincing on that one. Anyone could have called her on that.

She's singing that tree song! A lot of suspense in the air. Allen says you can hear a pin drop on the cast. I'm on the edge of my seat here.

Robbie Rhodes asked to move up the roadway. The Judge okayed the request.

Now Roxy is now treed for 125! Baby's tree is dead. The cast is headed that way...what are they going to find?????

Never did find Curtis' golf ball...

About the time these handlers started doubting their dogs, they kicked it in gear.

Upon arriving to Baby's tree, Sam was in there but kept his mouth shut. Baby was on a tiny bush...nothing was found and she was minused both ways...ouch.

Headed towards Roxy now. Maybe she has the meat? But she's gotten quiet. Sheesh...two is running...

Your 2017 UKC Coonhound World Nite Hunt Champion is GRNITECH Bad Habit Sam! The FIRST ever XBred to win our World Championship. Wow!! What a weekend. Congrats to Sambo and the two ladies. Until next year!
