will puppies get their bark back?

My sons and i recently purchased a new puppy brought it home and is taking care of it, but when we are not around close it continues to bark and howl. She has barked so much she has lost her voice and cannot bark anymore. She finally has settled in to her new home, but do you think she will get her bark back?thanks for your input
