Putting weight on one

What's a good diet to put weight on an elderly dog that don't even hunt anymore ?? She's 12 and loosing quite a bit of mass. Been to the vet for bloodwork and all that was good.

Her teeth are probably pretty bad at this age and she is probably struggling with traditional dog food fed dried. How is her appetite with dried kibble? My senior dog and another that passed last night neither liked dry food much when they got older because of this. Soften it and bait it with table scraps. Your vet might be against it but she's lived this long let her have what she likes, the food you eat lol. Also, switch to a higher fat ratio food. Sportsmix CanineX is about the highest you'll find.

Mixing the feed with milk replacer and feeding it wet might be an option.

Wet her Kibble down with Calf Milk Replacer and about once per week give her a Can of Mackerel.

Cook up some plain pasta (macaroni, spaghetti, shells, etc.) lots of carbs in it. Mix that in with your regular dog food. It'll put on weight. Doesn't sustain a dog that's hunted had but might well help an old dog that's not actively being hunted.

Good point on the pasta. I've never had a dog turn up its nose at pasta with tomato sauce leftovers. They love it.

You can buy a ten pound tube of 70/30 hamburger meat and feed 1/2 a pound a day or no more the 50 percent of her daily diet...

I haven’t fed this way but I knew a butcher who fed hamburger meat to his dog and that dogs coat shined and the dog looked great...

At this point if she will eat at all let her have whatever she will eat it will usually be what you eat.
Have you given her any meds? Antibiotics? She could just be sick or even wormy.
