OPS means the pup is Super Stakes eligible. OLS means the breeder paid the extra $25 a pup to have the Super Stakes paid up. Either way you must send in papers, DNA and pay a fee for pup to be permanently registered and SS certified. The OLS prefix the fees are slightly cheaper for the buyer to register but do start going up after 9 mo of age. You may save money by sending DNA swab but having stored on hold not processed. The DNA must be processed for the dog to participate in the Super Stakes hunt (there is a fall and spring hunt determined by pups DOB) these same pups are also eligible to earn truck tickets by being in the top $ earners in open/legacy hunts for a month (does not count added purse only regular payout at those hunts). Pups are eligible compete in these "races" until age 4 and once a year there is a hunt at Isle of Capri Casino for the 64 pups that earned tickets get to go hunt off for a new truck. Being paid up in SS can significantly increase the value of a nice young dog.
Performance is a UKC program that allows dogs to earn points that have $ value for hunt wins throughout their lifetime. Dogs placing 3rd or higher earn these points and once a year the dog owner will receive a check for the monetary value of the points earned. The sire and dam also recieve 10% each of the monetary value of the points. The owner of dog that is performance paid and had a good year in the hunts can receive checks of pretty significant value. Be sure to pay before the pup is 6mo old or the fees raise from $30 to $100. After one year of age you are no longer allowed to enrol them in the program. The monetary value of the points varies year to year and is dependent upon the amount in the fund. It is worth a dog owners initial fee to pay your pup up into both programs.
