Here is a similar scenario. Dog is called treed but sounds funny and keeps shutting up but the two doesn't get her. When the cast arrives, she is treed in the middle of a cow pasture and a huge very mean black bull is chasing her around the base of a huge oak tree. Handler cannot enter the field to handle her without placing his life in danger. What do you do?

That was the longest hour of my life up that tree lol. Some time between running to the nearest fence and when we got to the dogs again that boss buffalo was trying to tear the gate off the hinges to get to the dogs. We lost the card we were so shook up we called it a dead cast and went home lol.

I took this picture last night as I was walking into a tree. The dog didn't seem to mind the extra "spectators".

But I can't hardly blame a dog for leaving if bees, owls, coyotes, zombies or velosa raptors attacks it.....

But what about the dog that STAYS put under such circumstances? Isn't he the better coondog? By not penalizing the dog that leaves, you're not rewarding the dog that stays.

Naw, I think if a dog stays put, then he avoids the minus he needs to get for leaving. Its a tough break in some cases.

Dogs

Folks, does anyone really think that the original RULE makers envisioned every option like some of these mentioned items and thought the dogs should be minuses for leaving the tree? Seriously, if a landowner removed a dog or dogs from a tree, would it be right to minus the dog/s? Life threatening events like buffalos, bulls, etc and you would minus the dog/s, give me a break! No one is opening a can of worms with these kinds of exceptions, it's called common sense. Dave

I find that absolutely wrong, definitely should be interference! If that's not interference, nothing is period. Dave

Jim

Do you think that was the intent of the Rule? Talking about a RULE that needs changed, this one needs changing, if it is that inflexible. Dave

Be careful. If you start making exceptions for dogs leaving trees, you're opening Pandora's box. The bad might outweigh the good on this one.

Dogs

Come on guys, I mean a situation where dog is taken off tree by landowner or "competition" should never result in minus POINTS! That's a "stretch" in my opinion, pun intended? Dave

Bees

Bees are in the hive at night.. Or were these wild bees with a hive in a den tree that the dog was treed on ? Also how did they know that bees run the dog off? Did they go to were the Garmin showed she or he treed or did they witness this happen as they were about to handle the dog at the tree ?

I have never seen a dog leave a tree because of bees, only thing iv seen leave a tree for bees is people and I’m one of them, always flipped a coin to see who went back to get the dogs.

Get the rest of the cast to distract the bull while you leash your dog. Good luck.

What some of you are missing is that there is already a rule in place to cover the extreme go read rule 7 through then read Rule 5 (g) notice that 5 (g) doesn't reference either or strike or tree it just says delete points after using Rule 7. And yes I know that other dogs that are treed are to be scored as usual, all the others are deleted and have 1 hr to catch their dogs. My point with each answer is that there are extreme circumstance that tree points may fall under compliance with Rule 7 and 5 (g) which is why it does not just list strike points. It is not a "stretch" to know that there is occasionally dangerous encounters in the woods which is why the rule is wrote the way it is but as a check calls for a cast vote or the authority of a non-hunting judge to make the determination.

I was hunting in a breed days my dog struck out in a field ran it to some ones house treed in there front yard and we can see this were we were standing I tree him car pulls in the drive way they get out of the car shoes my dog of the tree with some force (the judge said lets see what happens) he comes back are way a little go back trees some more another dog trees with him. they come back out of the house this time both dogs leavening well lets say we both took are minus. the hole time I am saying interference but I didn't get that lost the cast by 75 would have been high scoring dog of the hunt we were about 500yrd away could see eyes in the tree that sucked.
