This week’s article brings us all the way into the new millennium, to 2005 to be exact. That is the year GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Jack, the topic of today’s article was born. Jack is one of those dogs that will be filed in the quality over quantity category. Well, I say that, but he also had a ton of titled pups. In fact, he has the 2nd most titled pups in the English breed’s history. But his total number of pups is definitely an outlier when you look at the rest of the hounds near the top of the list in that category. His 654 pups produced seems like a lot until you compare it to some of the other English dogs we’ve discussed. Like Rooster with over 3,100, Huck a Buck with 900+, and Grizzly with nearly 1,600. The fact he had so many titled pups led to a very impressive percentage, closing in on 18% as of this writing.

Jack’s first litter hit the ground right around his 2nd birthday. This litter out of NITECH ‘PR’ Elam’s Fly would produce his first NITECH, NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Pete. It wouldn’t be his last. In June of 2007 Jack teamed up with GRNITECH ‘PR’ Rocky Creek Lizard to produce NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Bo, NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Slim, NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Sadie, and NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Barb out of a 9-pup litter. Then a year later in June of 2008 NITECH ‘PR’ Crooked Creek Wild Windy had a 7-pup litter that produced 4 titled hounds, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Radar, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Blue Knob’s Main Street Witch, NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Elly Mae, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ McNees Main Street Jackie. He finished out 2008 with 2 more strong litters, 1 born in August from GRCH ‘PR’ American Outlaws Wild Dog with 4 of 8 titling, CH ‘PR’ Main Street Booker T-Bone, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Bratton’s High Street Jack, NITECH ‘PR’ Three Rivers Goose HTX, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Main Street Ruby. The other was born in November of 2008 out of CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Abbott’s Sweetwater Lou Kate with NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Sum, NITECH ‘PR’ Thunder River Mack, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Abbott’s Waterlou Buster, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Frostbite.

Just like 2008, 2009 was another banner year. Jack’s string of top litters started in May of 2009 with a pair of impressive ones. The first was a 6-pup litter out of NITECH ‘PR’ Ross’ Sioux River Ruby that had the following 4 titled pups, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Blues Man, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Back Street Betty, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Golden Oaks Boo, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Main Street Sis. Then a 9-pup litter out of GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ PC’s Misfit Molly produced another 5 titled hounds, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Swans Main Street Jay, NITECH ‘PR’ Lost Rivers Mr. Jager, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Pumpkin Center Main St Jackson, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Hooch, and NITECH CH ‘PR’ Cross Creek Jetta. Three months later in August, ‘PR’ Hardtime Miss. Three Spot had a 10-pup litter with 5 titling, GRNITECH(2) GRCH ‘PR’ Wileys Main Street Moose, NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Wind Ridge Ghostly Tuff HTX, CH ‘PR’ Main Street Rock Star, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Main Street Jake Brake, and CH ‘PR’ Phils Main Street Molly. Then towards the end of the year, NITECH ‘PR’ Elam’s Fly made a return trip to Jack and together they produced 5 more pups with 3 titling, WCH CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Griz, NITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Herman HTX2, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Fly.

Let’s fast forward to the 2010s. In August of 2013 NITECH ‘PR’ Trusty’s Good News Sue dropped a litter of 10 Jack pups with 3 of them titling, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Wildcats Kentucky Jay, GRNITECH(2) ‘PR’ Main Street White Poison, and CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Connor’s Deep Woods Evil Sheba. Then in May of 2014 GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Sinking Creek Sissy Mae HTX dropped an 8-pup litter out of Jack with 3 of them titling, NITECH ‘PR’ Deepwoods Main Street Stump, WCH NITECH CH ‘PR’ Driftwood’s Little Jack, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Cridlin’s Hardtime Red Toby. Then two large, successful litters out of Jack hit the ground in July of 2014. The first was an 11-pup litter out of GRNITECH ‘PR’ Roark Wild Joy with the following 4 dogs titling, NITECH ‘PR’ Midnight Blazin Creed, NITECH ‘PR’ Franks Cain Creek Roarin Hart, NITECH ‘PR’ Go With the Flo, and NITECH ‘PR’ Oakwood’s Lilly. And the next was a 12-pup litter out of GRNITECH ‘PR’ Ragan’s Hatchie River Dottie that had the following 7 dogs title, NITECH ‘PR’ All Nite Rube, NITECH CH ‘PR’ King’s Main Street Rocky Top, GRNITECH(4) ‘PR’ Main St. Blue, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Main Street Hollywood, NITECH ‘PR’ Rowe’s Tall Oak Rocky, NITECH ‘PR’ Hatchie River Molly, and NITECH ‘PR’ Gilstraps Red Cindy.

In August 2014, more pups destined for greatness hit the ground. This time out of GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Coonvalley Wild Skeeter. Out of her 6 pup litter, 4 titled out including GRNITECH ‘PR’ Coonvalley Blackjack HTX, GRNITECH(4) ‘PR’ Main Street Wild Crow, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Keg Wild Jackee HTX, and NITECH ‘PR’ Portage River Penny. The last litter I’m going to mention today is a perfect 5 for 5 litter born in October of 2015 out of Jack and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Lewie’s B.C. Tree Slamin Boogr. Those 5 titled hounds were CH ‘PR’ Uptown Capt. Flint, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Blazin Timber’s All Jacked Up, NITECH ‘PR’ Mill Creek Ally, NITECH ‘PR’ Carolina Wild Kat, and GRNITECH(3) ‘PR’ Oakwoods Poison Ivy. There are still litters out of Jack hitting the ground (as recently as 10/25/22) and still pups titling out of Jack (4 in the past year). It’s very possible we haven’t seen the last big winner out of him just yet.

I enjoyed reading this Trevor. Jack in my opinion was one of the most dominant studs there has ever been. He seemed to cross well with any line and still throw coon treers. I have greatly enjoyed competing with dogs off Jack the last decade. My signature is full of his offspring and i'm happy in a small way I can continue that line.

My good buddy Rob Lahti was the breeder of Jack. If not for going through a divorce when Jack was a pup, who knows where the english breed would be? Crazy how things work out.
