I’ve got a young female that’s starting to tree some , she been running track for several weeks, but just now starting to tree some. I’m still having to walk with her to get her to hunt out.i know as she gets older she’ll hunt out further. Any ideas on getting a young dog to hunt out?

Stop walking her. Cut her loose and sit down if she comes back in leash her up and go home after doing this a couple times if she still comes back in then give her a switch to the ass and tell her to get going

Hunt or search as some call it is more related to genetic inheritance than training. Hounds born with hunt will quickly show it. Not much you can do to make a hound actually search harder for game. On the other hand if your one that is constantly talking to the dog or calling it back to you and constantly on the move than your dog may be checking in more often.

I always like to give a young hound an opportunity to hunt out an area before moving on. I'll sit and let them go out and comeback in several times depending on the lay of the land. Hound with any hunt at all will expand the search area as it matures and gains confidence your not leaving.

Then there are those that just plain don't check in at all. Seems that's what most want these days. Those kind are genetically disposed to do just that. Personally, I like a dog that will check back in within 20-30 mins. if they haven't found any game. I don't think I'm the norm in that regard though!😉
