What kind of gravel in a kennel??

Ive used 57s the last few years in my kennels an it seems like im having to constanly add new gravel every year to keep them from turning to mud and they have roofs over them. Anyone have any suggestions on gravel to use that lasts longer im thinkin of trying pea gravel this year? Thanks

I use crushed limestone, I think the size is 6's, no roof and it holds up well, I guess it would just depend on the type of ground you have underneath. Might need to put down a base of some bigger chunks first.

I have granite down and then the pea gravel over the top of it.. I really like it.. I've had to touch up a few spots this year... but my dog yard is on a bit of a slope and the water runs thru it so it all piles down against the fence... No mud at all...

If gravel is a must for and you want to cure the problem then there is a material called Geotextile that is used for a base to keep gravel from sinking in the mud.We use this material alot on roads in wet places and it works great. You can buy it off of ebay and get it about in any length you want it.You can get,say a 10x10 shipped to your house in nonwoven for $30 but whatever you need it will fix your problem.
