BLUEBLADE 13
Thanks for the compliment. I try to instill that attitude in these young men.
Hunt
Went by myself last night. First drop I cut Cotton and Cy in a rough bottom. They left out and at about 500 yds in the bottom around a rough beaver slash, Cotton opened once and fell treed. I made my way in to her thru the water and beaver runs. I got to the tree and it was a huge den. I have treed on this tree a few times before. I have seen the coon on the outside a few times but not tonight. Cy wasn't at the tree and was opening about 100 yds on up the bottom. I walked Cotton about 10 yds off and sent her up the beaver run. She went about 200 yds and fell treed. she was up a huge tree and I just couldn't find him by myself. I called Cy in to me and headed to the truck. Cy was getting in a real bad area that is mostly water and small trees. He is too inexperienced to be messing around in there so I caught him up. Next drop I cut Cotton, Andy , and a pup I call Rebel. Rebel is a brother to Cotton but is 6 months old.
I sent them towards a large creek that has some good timber on the other side. They crossed the creek and at about 400 yds Andy struck. I looked at the Garmin and Cotton was 500 yds straight thru the bottom. Andy was headed in her direction and she soon was with him. They got the track up and going good but were headed to the other side of the bottom which is rough as a cob on a cold morning. A timber crew had tried to cut the timber over there but gave up after digging out the equipment several times. They did cut a lot of the timber on the edges. I drove around and they had the track really up and going in all the water. I soon heard Cotton load up immediately followed by Andy. They really lit up the bottom. I made my way to them. I looked for a long time and knew they had a coon. I finally found a large stick and beat on the tree. I moved back in time to see the coon going on up the tree into some thick canopy. I was going to roll him out for the pup but never seen him again. I made my way out of there and it was 12:00 when I reached the truck. Got dogs fed and put up and got in bed around 1:30 am. Makes for a fun day. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!
