Battery status not showing DC30/DC40

Can't find answer to this one.
(UPDATED I FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM READ BELOW)
Trying to help friend.
He has a DC40 that few months ago started not showing battery charge status.Just shows a ? inside battery picture on dog menu page.
Well last week now his DC30 is now doing the same thing.

He has a 320 and I am still using a 220.
Status does not show on either unit.
Other then this they both appear to continue to work correctly.
They both take a charge.
They both hold charge.(We know because he continues using them.)
They are both updated.
Tried resetting battery by unplugging it .
Only thing left is new batteries but the old ones seem to be okay so I am stumped.

I brought this back up because I finally figured it out.
It is these darn after market batteries causing the problem.
We had two brand new ones doing it after about few months use so of course I thought it was a collar or handheld issue.
But it is the batteries fault .
Another problem I ran into with the after market battery was a long blink and a short and the collar not linking to satellite . I tossed the collar in the junk box. Well I tried reusing this other "NEW" battery in another collar and it hit me because now this collar was displaying the same problem .
Went got the collar out of junk box .Put a different new battery in it . And it is now working again.
Never thought new batteries to be the cause of two entirely different issues.

.

Back in about 2009 I sold some aftermarket batteries and ran into something like your issue with the customers. They would fully charge them but they showed a range of charging form question mark to any degree of of battery life. But never full. We tested them and found if you cycled them perhaps 5-10 times they would correct themselves. It was too much of an issue and I stuck with only selling the Garmin Batteries.
