Unfortunately, you may be right, however, that just shows how low some folks will go in order to win a hunt. In anyone's mind this kind of behavior should be eliminated not condoned or encouraged. Myself, I think more of my fellow hunters than I do about winning a hunt with a mean dog. I want to win by having a better coon dog not a alligator that runs dogs off the tree and wins by default. How can anyone be proud to hunt that kind of dog? Dave
Most don't want a "mean" dog. Most want a dog that will stay treed, and stay with the devil if need be. I'm no different, I want 1 to stay treed no matter how hot the fire gets. But I don't care for 1 that covers others and runs them off trees. I had 1 and it didn't live long. I've had a few I'd classify as mean that did live, only to be hunted alone by a old pleasure hunter.
