Is it getting thin or just falling out? One of ours has really short, slick fine hair and gets thin looking from beating the brush in the summer time. Some dogs that are losing hair just need a good worming. Try a 1/2 CC of ivomec and do a good worming w/ panacur or safeguard 1ml per every 5lbs of body weight for 3-5 says in a row and a single dose 10 days after the first this combo usually slicks up a dog. Put a spoon of coconut oil on his food everyday for awhile. Thyroid issues can also cause hair loss you can try just a little iodized salt (table salt)sprinkled on his food many thyroid problems are caused by iodine deficiency but some dogs require medication.
If he has any bare spots put some nu-stock on them or mix your own, sulfur mixed with any kind of oil but with coconut would be great. Hope this helps.

All my issues with a dog losing hair has been related to "Corn" in dog food during the summer. Winter no issue. I have taking the EXPENSIVE road and feed no grain food in the summer and no issues now. Hate to spend that much money but don't want to see any losing hair.
