Is the disease worse than the cure? Are we going to destroy our country in order to contain the virus? I see today where the UAW closed down all auto manufacturing plants.

An article I read yesterday about the UK but it applies to us, if the goal is to ease this Wahun monster through the population at a rate that health care can keep up, it's going to be a long road. Hard saying what will be left

The UK's plan has shifted because the scientific modelling showed we were on course for a "catastrophic epidemic".

A strategy of just slowing the spread of the virus, but not trying to stop it, would have overwhelmed intensive care units.

The modelling by Imperial College London_has been heavily informed by the experience in Italy and is influencing decisions at the heart of government.

Its calculations predicted 260,000 deaths in the UK.

Instead the plan is to drive down the number of cases to very low levels, which the models predict will limit deaths from coronavirus to the thousands or tens of thousands.

However, this approach comes with a major problem - there is no exit strategy.

Without the immunity that would build up if people were infected, then cases would soar as soon as measures are lifted.

The report said these could need to be in place until a vaccine is available, which could take up to 18 months.

We are in this for the long haul.

The President declared war today and invoked his War Powers.

The spread in China has already dwindled to just a few new cases a day. 90% of their manufacturing plants have reopened with everyone going back to work. This is without any vaccine or treatment for the disease yet. In 3-4 months this will have run it's course. Contrary to popular belief, the sky is not falling.

I don't believe chit any media outlet or president tells me. Their sole purpose is to ensure panic doesn't consume the American public and to distract you. I don't know anymore than the next person does how this will play out but I do know how to take care of myself or my significant others.

Am I freaking out? No. I'm prepared for the worse case scenario. That means not relying on anyone to take care of my needs in the event of an emergency. (I am pissed that I still have to drive to the big city for work and could be caught in the middle of chaos over there.)

Stores and shelves are empty. Think about the logistics it takes to deliver those supplies. If workers in those stores, truckers to deliver and manufacturing employees fail to show to work or are quarantined themselves, where are your basic necessities coming from to survive? China? (who by the way have supposedly threatened to cut us off from medicines? Whats next? All of our goods produce over there?
Show me a product produced here in the US.)

People say "well China's cases have been controlled". Well guess what? China is communist. If you don't follow isolation or quarantine orders you are shot, not like here where you may get a slap on the wrist. People listen there, not like the spoiled brats so many of our countrymen have become.

What about our policemen and women? You think if chit really hits the fan they are gonna be out protecting you and yours? No, they are gonna be protecting them and theirs. They do not have the armament our 2nd amendment provides us.

I don't think of it as a crisis. I think of it as an eye opener. Take care of yourself and yours. Don't rely on anyone for chit because they are gonna take care of them, not you!

New cases of Covid 19 are now decreasing in China, South Korea and Japan. The pandemic only lasted 4-6 weeks in South Korea and Japan. I wonder how far behind them we are.

Oh my goodness, a couple of "old" drugs that have been approved and used for other diseases such as malaria and ebola have been found to work against the Caronavirus. They are now being used against the Caronavirus. We don't have to wait for 3 months because they have already been tested and approved by the FDA years ago and found safe. And we already have a vaccine that is being used in Washington State. Maybe the sky is not falling after all.
