Curious as to what everyone does or uses to keep ticks off yourself when hunting.
With all the diseases they carry and Lymes so bad .To me it is important to keep them off. I hate them.

Myself, I spray permethrin on my boot tops and clothing up to my knees. They still seemed to at times still get on to me from brush so I started using Deet products on my wrists and part way up my sleeves .Then I spray around my waist and on my clothes there too. When I get home I still check myself for them. Clothes and skin.
I have heard of some using cider vinegar .
Some eating garlic and garlic gell tablets. Claim to have actually seen them on their self but never dug in.
Some use thinned down kerosene.

So would like to hear what you use and how well it works for you.

A drop of tea tree oil on each wrist does a good job of keeping them from latching on.

Interesting, we never had ticks up here when I was growing up. Only last 10 years or so. I am going to try the tea tree oil thing. Worth a shot. Right now I just use regular bout spray. I'm hairy enough I can usually feel them crawling around. Lol. Actually I think I can right now. Eeeww.

Backwoods off. The green bottle, pump spray kind. Spray it real good on my hunting chaps, all around them. . Also spray my long sleeve hunting shirt. It helps a lot, but you will still need to check yourself for ticks.
Absorbine, we use this for those summer time biting knats. Seems like mosquito's and ticks don't like absorbine much either.

I bought some medicated cattle tags. Not sure if that will work but going to try it. I plan on placing them on the straps on my boots. If it works on dogs and cattle, I would think it would work on me too

You have to spray your clothes with a good tick product or repellent. Here is a good article explaining this. Your clothes should be sprayed with permethrin designed for this until damp but not soaked. Let dry on the line before wearing. Reapply after washing. Or buy the pretreated clothes as mentioned above. You will also need to treat your skin with something safe like 30% lemon of eucalyptus or a Deet product made for skin.

LD-44Z Fly and Dairy spray .
Kind of expensive but it dont take much .
I Spray my frog legs ONLY front and back of them.
Not recommended for skin application but theres
no need to apply it anywhere else than on your chaps.

Rick that information you posted is very interesting, might have to try some of it, if it does what they say it would be well worth the money. Here in Mo. ozarks the little bitty ones latching onto your privates or other places have been the worst I can remember in my 50+ years in the brush following hounds.

I use Sawyers to spray my outer clothes. I use Deep Woods Off for my skin. Ticks climb up small trees, brush, and etc. Then in addition to that, the buggers jump!

In the summer I also shower right after getting home.

I prefer to not use anything. I guess maybe we don't have as many ticks as some the other places. I do have some get on me but most I just pick off when I feel them. I don't sit down in the leaves cause that's not very smart to do. I hunt almost every night and usually only have a couple a year bite in. I figure that's better than killing myself with bug spray. I don't see how some people spray that stuff all over them and think that's going to be fine.
