Cedarfork Valley Woodpecker

Can anyone post his pedigree and any old pics/ ads with him in it? I have him in my hounds and I know a lot of people really like him. What can you tell me about him?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Jack, I may be interested in a female pup out of that woodpecker semen. What female are you planning on breeding?

Due soon

Will have triple Woodpecker pups soon! This is a repeat cross that was done about two years back, the young dogs are quick starters with a mouth and looks to boot. One female is here with us, she treed with her sire fourth time out in the woods. I'm extremely excited to see these pups get into the right hands! About as close to Woodpecker as you can get without it being him! If anyone's interested feel free to pm me on here or you can text 2706708518.

Sounds great, i will definitely like to make a list for female if possible. I have a natural male with 3 shots of Woodpecker and would like to get a female with a heavy shot of that blood to go with him.

Question on this

For you guys that have posted on this thread, what were the things you liked about the pups off CV Woodpecker or the old dog himself?

He was one of those that came on the scene and was older when he did so (my thoughts) he was gone before anybody really knew much about him.

I'd like to know more about the dog and his offspring from people that were really there and dealt with them.

I didnt get to hunt with Woodpecker but from the research i have done it seems most dogs out of his line have lots of natural ability, seems like that sort of thing would stem from lots of generations being hunted hard. But im still learning alot, i really like what i've heard about Snows Izzy, a few people feel thats the best dog they ever hunted with.

Anyone Remember

Liver Eatin' Johnson or Hot N Greasy?

There was a GrNt in Illinois, Henkles Just Dandy. What are some other ones off CV Woodpecker? What did he produce that people loved?

I'm just interested to hear of the traits that this line of dogs is known for. I don't know.

Not Woodpecker but Red Crush The Moose

I'm pretty sure this was a Nitech out of woodpecker named Dan

This was a pup out of woodpecker named Mack I remember this night because he took half my thumb off trying to get the coon out of his mouth.

Woodpecker was not a flashy dog went hunting didn't mess around left on a run and treed them close and treed them deep He had a soft mouth as a 10 year old I couldnt tell you if he did when he was young but he yodel on track and chopped on tree and was always under a coon didn't matter on weather conditions heat snow up to your knees it didn't matter. Never ran trash turn him loose in a herd of deer ,possum and he would run and tree you a coon right in the middle of them.

Doug Porter owned him along with his littermate brother Buck Iii Doug liked buck better because he was louder and flasher I seen them hunt together and separate woodpecker was a far better dog then buck. Woodpecked would not me to a dog he would be by himself 98% of the time. I kept with the woodpecker line from what I saw some say buck was a better dog I never seen it.

As for reproduceing I had 55 dogs at one time out of woodpecker I never seen so many naturals there was no training you were treeing coon at 6 months old on there own. There were duds you could tell which ones they were and there where ones that had to much independents they would not back a dog would not go and get treed quick enough so there in that area looking stupid. There are the ones that will be a split treeing first and first dog but leave as soon as another dog came in to the tree. There were ones that did both and there were ones that stayed treed no matter what happened and there were ones that had it together. Would I ever double up on that never use him for hunt, independents, split treeing loner when your line needs that. Just get a shot of it and no more you will get under a coon you will get a split tree dog you will get hunt and natural tree but you may get to much independents.
