All casts will hunt for 90 minutes. We'll have a play by play of the Final Cast, right here on this thread. Trevor Wade will be out with the cast and report back to me. I'd guess you should start checking back around 1 am. Until then, good luck to your picks in Round 1.

All casts are back and the field is now narrowed down to just four. The above will make up the Final Cast for all the marbles in the Grand Nite Division at the 2022 Autumn Oaks.

The cast is being judged by Cody Carter, assisted by Chase Blevins who is also serving as the guide. Trevor Wade will be tagging along and reporting the action back to me for the play by play. They are on their way out now and should be merely minutes here before they are at the spot that has been designated for this contest. It will be a 90-minute hunt. Get ready.

They have arrived. Corn on both sides of the woods in front of them with a narrow woodline heading up to those woods. It has cooled down nicely after the rain showers in the afternoon. 67 degrees with a slight breeze at 4 mph out of the east.

* Cut 'em! Start your clock, the hunt is on!

* Calm and quiet for the first 3.5 minutes until Dolly is the first to strike for 100!

* GMan puts in for 75! He's in the same general area with Dolly. And now Pete for 50.

* Ivy is on the card for 25. She is to the right of the others. The cast is now walking briskly down the edge of the cornfield to cut down some distance between them and the hounds.

* The cast stops to listen. Workman calls Dolly treed for 125!

* GMan is treed for 75, with Dolly. They are ahead of and slightly to the right of the cast.

* Tree Ivy, straight ahead! Put her in for 125, she is split.

* Dolly and Gman's tree is dead and the cast has arrived and dogs are handled. They are on the edge of the corn field. 13 minutes gone in the hunt.

* Blevins and Ward are headed towards Ivy to handle her.

* Plus Dolly and Gman! Coon seen. The handlers waste no time getting them both off leash again. Cast is headed towards Ivy's tree now.

* 15 is working on Gman. At 9 years of age, the elder hound of the cast has been working for three nights in a row, after a long ride up from Texas. The cast continues towards Ivy.

* 15 broke on GMan. He's parted ways now. Trevor says he can't hear Ivy and assumes she is handled. We'll find out shortly here.

* The cast crossed a fence into a bean field on the other side and are moving in on top of Ivy now. 28 minutes gone in the hunt.

* Ivy made good on her track! Plus her up too! She is being led away to recast.

Pete - 50 strike pending
Ivy - 150+
Dolly - 225+
GMan - 150+

* Ivy is recast. Dolly is struck back in for 25. Ivy is struck back in for 25.

* Misting a little bit of rain right now but having no affect on the cast at the moment.

* ACTION! Dolly treed for 125! 33 minutes gone in the hunt.

* Dolly's tree is dead with no other takers. The cast has arrived and she is being handled with 44 minutes gone in the hunt.

* Shining. The rain is now getting a little heavier. More than misting.

* Where's Pete? I'll have to ask Trevor what's up.

* Nothing yet on Dolly's tree but Judge Carter sees a coon in the big tree next over and is checking around for a crossover.

* While we're waiting here...... I added a little more info above on each of the hounds. Sires, dams, ages. Check it out.

* No texts here for a bit but Trevor just called to say the rain is coming down hard now all of a sudden and making it difficult for him to text. We'll just bear with him for a while.

He did tell me that Dolly's tree is circled. They did not find a legitimate crossover into the tree next to hers. She is recast and the cast is moving towards Ivy, the only hound they can hear at the moment.

He also let me know that the last they heard Pete was when they were on the way to Ivy's tree a little while ago. Now he is approx 800 yards from them and GMan is approx 600 yards from the cast. Both handlers claim they are showing to be stationary but they simply cannot hear them at the moment with the rain coming down so hard.

And now Ivy is declared treed for 125! Right at 60 minutes gone, and they are continuing towards her.

Score Update:
Pete - 50 strike pending
Ivy - 150+ (25 strike 125 tree pending)
Dolly - 225+ 150 circle
GMan - 150+ (25 strike pending)

* Trevor continues to call instead of texting due to the rain still coming down but it's let off a bit.

The cast was apprx 150 yards from Ivy when she shut up and the two was applied to her. The two got her and she is minused that 125.

The cast then continued to walk ahead to the top of a knoll where the judge and Ward could hear Pete treed. Ward declared him treed for 125. They have about 700 yards to cover to get to him with 67 minutes gone in the 90-minute hunt.

* Ivy is retreed for 125! Trevor says it sounds like she is right where she was before. Cast is continuing towards Pete. That's all I have at the moment.

Score Update:
Pete - (50 strike 125 tree pending)
Ivy - 25+ (25 strike 125 tree pending)
Dolly - 225+ 150 circle
GMan - 150+ (25 strike pending)

* Not sure what happened there folks but it seemed like this forum crashed for a bit. Maybe it's on my end, don't know at the moment.

Anyway... Trevor had called with an update to say they had arrived at Pete's tree. They were shining his tree with 7 minutes remaining in the hunt.

Since then he called back to say the rain was still coming down hard but Pete's tree was circled, the hunt time has expired, and the cast is headed back to Ivy to score her tree. Regardless, that scoring will have zero effect on breed wins or the overall.

Hannascreek Dolly will be the 2022 National Grand Nite Champion. Congratulations to owners Mike Carmack and Lance Belcher, and handler Darryl Workman! In this cast, youth prevailed over the veterans.

I'll post final scores and placements shortly.

With the rain pouring still, Ward chose to not bother scoring Ivy's tree, which was approved as it played no bearing on anything and considering we technically don't place dogs beyond the overall winner other than to determine breed winners. Since she was the only English, there is nothing left to determine including no effects on the rest of the cast. If somone wants to place her somewhere, go ahead wherever you see fit. lol.

All jokes aside... thanks to all the guides and judges this whole week and all those behind the scenes. Another fun Autumn Oaks.
