Administering Dexamethsone

My vet said to administer it intramuscularly. What he didn't say was where. Does it need to be right exactly where the bite is, or can it just be somewhat nearby. For example, in a bite in the neck, can you administer the dex in the muscle of the shoulder?

Thanks

Bioavailability is same oral vs IM... I give it oral, no risk of nerve damage or infection...

Where the bite is doesn't matter. If you inject it into a muscle it will be absorbed into the dog's system and do its job. The hip is the biggest muscle so it is the easiest spot but the shoulder works. There are a lot of nerves and major blood vessels in the neck. There is less risk of hitting a nerve or large blood vessel in the hip.

If you just get it under the skin, meds will be absorbed. Meds given IM are absorbed quicker than meds given SubQ.
