Sorry for all the guys who wanted Roofus pups.. Maggie didn't have any she had problems with her last litter also.. So maybe we will have better luck with the next breeding...
I am proud to say that I am starting to hunt Roofus again I pleasured hunted him last night he made three trees and showed me 5 coons...

If anyone is interested in breeding to Roofus feel free to contact me at any time... Thanks to all of the fans of ROOFUS and Thank you Dave for such a wonderful hound... I wish I had another one like him... Take care my fellow friends, JR

Junior, I have a project I am going to call Bawlie. He is just 11 months old but is treeing his own coon and staying for over an hour. I will be hauling him to some Bench Shows as soon as I get his papers back. Yeah, he has a pretty bawl mouth! I see the same determination to stay treed as his daddy (Roofus) and grandmother (Mini). I reckon I needed a young dog to work with this Fall and Winter. I will post some pictures and maybe a video clip later.

JR, Hows ol Roofus doing? Have you bred any females to him yet?I can't believe how much he looks like some of my old dogs.And from what I hear he acts like them too. Is he cautious around strangers? I have a year old pup that looks alot like him. I talked to you on the phone right after you got roofus about breeding a female, but she has never come in yet.I will call you if she does maybe we can set up a hunt sometime. your friend ,Kenny Boggs

Kenny, Roofus is the real deal. Yes, he is a little cautious around strangers but is bold when you turn him loose. I have a pup out of Roofus I call Bawlie. Maybe I can put up a picture or a video clip of Bawlie soon. Needless to say, he has a big bawl mouth. I like him so far.

Kenny and Junior, Mini is showing pups. You guys know I bred her to Zeb. Some of the pups may be tight on the track and I look for most of them to be independent to a fault. I know the big time PKC hunters like them like that. They don't want a dog that will cover another dog. Roofus is plenty independent but would cover other dogs when I hunted him. Normally, I breed pups for myself. This time I am trying to breed pups that will win the PKC Super Stakes hunts and maybe some Performance money also.

Junior, Roofus won us some Performance money hasn't he?

Roofus is doing fine I went through some troubled times this summer and sold all my hounds but Roofus and Hank... I have only hunted Roofus once since back the fisrt week of May... With temps dropping I am getting the fever bad.. I had a guy that was gonna hunt him for me in some hunts but honestly I just never took the time out to get him to the guy... I just recently got a female with some of the same lines as Roofus.. If she pans out I will be breeding her to Roofus. I did bred one female (Alsome "Al" bred) redtick but she didn't take I let them knot 3 times.. She has had problems before tho.. He is very cautious of strangers. But in the woods he is all about treeing a coon. He pays zero attention to everyone and every hound. He don't waste his time checking out all of his competition like most males do.. When you unsnap him you better prepare yourself to go to the tree.. Weather it be 100 yrds or 10 miles whatever it takes.. He has zero reverse I have never had him to come back I have always found him treed. In other words if he hasn't struck within the first 15-20 mins you better get out the tracking system.. He is straight minus one skunk lol. He is prob 98% accurate. He is a stay put tree dog.. He can flat move a track. He has a fairly cold nose that he drifts very well. I wish I had a kennel full of his style. I am hoping Dave will get tired of Bawlie and give me the chance to own him Lol.. All B.S. aside He is a competition coondog I don't care to much for him as a pleasure hound.. I have enough confidence in a nite hunt when I unsnap him we are gonna win.. If Roofus is given the chance I honestly believe he can win any type of hunt he is in.. I am looking forward to hunting him on a regular basis again... I wanted to hunt him at A.O. but I had to work... I am wanting a Roofus pup bad ... Take Care, JR

Dave I have never seen a check from any performance money. I don't even know how that program works.. Keep us posted on those pups, JR

Please note Gypsy acts alot like Roofus here at the house I have't put her in the woods yet... She is cautious of strangers also.. Thats why I haven't took her to the woods yet.. She is comming around tho..

Here is a picture of my PR Lakeland's Bawlie at the Bench Show at Claremont, Illinois Saturday night.

Frances Gail says I shouldn't post it, I don't have him standing very well. Well, it was the first time he had ever been on the Bench, I did not practice with him before. I know there is room for improvement but he is very willing and didn't do the stupid stuff a lot of pups do the first time you put them on a Bench. He did earn some points but there was a lot of male competition (4 breeds) and it was his first time. He is not full grown, he is 11 months old. The great thing about him is that he can tree a coon and has stayed treed for an hour by himself. He is out of Grand Bench Champion Nite Champion Maddy Gee's Roofus and a Lakeland bred female. I hope to make him Roofus' first Champion pup.

Roofus is back home in Oak Hill...

I took him out on a late night hunt.He struck a cold track @ 12:30 am with one bark and drifted in deep. Where he continued to get deep (out of hearing) and treed with the meat... I am having problems uploading the video it shows to be in my files but wont come up to uploaded to photo bucket... When I figure it out I will post it... It felt good to follow a real COONDAWG.. Lol... He has been laid up so long he needs pedicure... Which will be done soon.

I am glad you and Frances Gail enjoyed it... Roofus is a joy to hunt.. I gave him a pedicure and I am ready to put him in the woods.. We have a English Sectional coming up I think on Oct 3rd I am wanting to hunt him in it... If I dont have to work... I will keep the pics and videos coming as they come...
