Well isn't that great!. I live about 30 miles west of Ellijay,Ga

One time I was coming home from a night hunt about 3:00am. I saw brilliant lights flashing in the trees to the left side of the road. As I passed an opening I looked in and saw a large object with brilliant peircing light flashing all around it like lightning. By the time I came to a stop I was well past it so I threw my truck in reverse and stomped on it. I wanted to get back and see this thing before it was gone. When I got back by it I stopped and stared. It took a few seconds to focus and realize what I was looking at. It was a logging skider and someone was out at 3:00am welding it so it would be ready to go at day break.

One morning a freind and his son and myself were out bear hunting in the summer training season. The fog was so thick it was like pea soup. My dog struck a track and we stopped to look for the track. We looked down the road and saw a dark figure that was close to seven feet tall. It was lumbering down the road towards us. We were straining our eyes trying to figure out what it was and it just kept walking closer. Finally it got close enough that we could see it was a lost horse walking toward us.

These two stories were good for a little adreniline rush and then reality set in.
Kyle

about 20 years ago one of my best friends was fishingin a 30 acre lake about 1 mile from my house in Widener Arkansas. (Kiethly Lake) This like was a beutiful secluded little lake surrounded by cypress trees. He was in a little bass tracker boat and was casting towards this little stump in the lake. As he worked his way to it he cast his lure right beside it and the stump opened its eyes!! Well my buddy pretended not to notice and started fishing his way back to the boat ramp and came to my house and called the Sherrif. The stump was still there when sherriff arrived and was an escaped convict!!

Was hunting with a friend named Shane Taylor in Arkansas when we were about 17. We were hunting on Crowley's Ridge at one of our regular spots. We pulled through a Metal gate and stopped to close the gate behind us. Shane left the truck running and the headlights on. He shut the gate and got in the back of the truck on his tool box and was putting his boots on. While he was doing this I see something coming toward us on the dirt road. From far off it liked like a black dog but as it got closer you could plainly see it was no dog! It was a Black Panther! I started hollering for Shane to get in the truck and about that time he slid in through the sliding back glass! The cat loped right by the truck and jumped the metal gate and we sat there not knowing what to do! After about 30 minutes we got up enough nerve to open the gate back up and drive about two miles up the road to Shane's girlfriends house and borrowed a 30-30 from her dad and went back there to turn the dogs loose. We never got out of the truck!lol WE were back in there hunting 3 nights later though!

I used to hunt a spot back in Oklahoma we called the old Doggett place. It was at the end of a dead end lane, and some people named Doggett used to live there, hence the name.

One summer an old lady who used to be my mother's teacher in elementary school came up missing. I knew her well, as she used to come and eat dinner at my Granny's house from time to time.

Anyway, after almost two months, they found her in her car, murdered. The car had been driven off in a steep holler right down there where I hunted. I had probably walked within 50 or 100 yards of her numerous times. But that is a reall thick, wolly, brushy holler, and you would have to be right up on a car like that before you would see it.

I don't know if that qualifies as a strange encounter, but it almost was.

The other night a friend and I were hunting, the dogs got deep and treed, we were walking to them and saw some lights heading in their direction but didnt think much of it. Then pow we heard a shot and the dogs quit and we could hardly track them. I said they shot the coon and stole our dogs. In a few minutes i could track them and they were deeper and treed again. We walked and Walked then came to a mountain, the dogs were treed on top. We climbed to the top but then there was a bluff 15 to 50 feet tall. We found a tree fell over and my friend climbed it to get up the bluff to the dogs. When he got there the dogs were treed on a tree and the dead coon was hanging 10 feet up the tree. I guess whoever it was just did it for meaness.

I went hunting one night by myself when I lived in Texas. My female treed and I went to the tree, shined it, and found the what looked like the ringed tail of a coon hanging out over the fork of the tree. I then went to the other side of the tree to get a better look and there was a cat looking down at me. I then went back around the tree to get a better look at this coon tail I had seen and sure enough it was definitely a coons tail so back around the tree I went to look again at it's face and sure enough it was a cats face looking at me so me being from Ohio and never seeing such a critter before I decided to just leave it alone and get my dog and get the heck away from whatever this cross breed was that my dog had treed. Later after talking to some locals I found out it was a Ringtailed Cat and such a thing did exist but it sure was strange looking.

Actually, as I got close the monkey jumped straight up in the air and ran off. I considered turning loose on it but did not want my dogs trashing on monkeys.

I was hunting on Big Blue River with a friend in Edinburg Indiana when I suddenly got deathly ill.I broke out in a cold sweat,my teeth were chattering,I became very dizzy.I set down for a min. to get my bearings.Suddenly I fell over backwards and he was shaking me to see if I was Ok.It eased up a little and we went on to the dogs. After we got the dogs and headed for the truck,This spell hit me again. This time I vomited and filled by britches.I stripped down and washed in the river. We were on 65 south when it hit me again. He pulled me into a truck stop and I just made it to the mens room.I finally made it home.I showered and went to bed.I tossed and turned all night.I got up for work the next morning and was driving when it hit me again.I decided to goto the Hospital.I made it to the emergancy at St. Francis Hospital in Beechgrove indiana.I remember walking through the doors and thats all.I woke up in a Hospital bed, they were getting me ready for surgery. My appendix had completely bursted and my system was full of poison.I will never forget that hunt.I really thought I might die.

These are some darn funny stories

I had never read this post before, I have been laughing out loud and everybody wonders what's to funny.

I can add these, was I was hunting alone one night in the winter, I had turned 2 dogs loose in a small patch of timber in a pasture along a creek. Hunted here all my life dogs would hunt down the creek then cross it and hunt out the timber. If they didn't hit anything they would usually come back across. Well I am leaned up next to a tree and hear one of them coming. I step up to where I think it will be coming and flip my light on to see which dog it is and there right in front of me it a coyote. I don't know which one of us was startled the most I jumped back and it took off like it's hair was on fire.

I would say the worst was when I had just moved to Little Rock and found a guy to hunt with, he took me to this place east of LR that was some timber and a swamp. We turned the dogs loose and the first thing he said to me was do you have your "stick", I said what "stick". He said your snake stick, I asked what do I need that for his reply "water moccasins". I was about done in right there. But dogs got a track going thru the swamp and we had to wade out a ways. We are standing there side by side, with a big tree that had fell over, in front of us. About that time we here this wild sounding hiss right behind us. Well we both jumped straight up on that log. Looked at each other and asked together "What the hell was that!" Someone had told him they turned some gators loose in there to cut down on the beavers, even though I don't think they could live that far north in the winter. I still don't know to this day but we had alot of laughs over it later on. I am just glad to be hunting higher ground again these days.

While hunting a big creek my hunting buddy and I were walking down the bank. Listening for the hounds when all a sudden something splashed very hard right next to my buddy! He's kinda spooky anyway. He ran up the steep bank so hard and sliding all the way yelling what is it what is it! I was laughing so darn hard I couldn't answer him at all. Needless to say it was only a beaver. But I will say it was a thrill too.

One night a friend and I were hunting down in a big river bottoms and after we turned the dogs lose they hit a track and took it a pretty good ways before coming treed. We get on the four wheelers and get pretty close to the dogs after passing by this guys house. When we get to the tree I get my dog and start to tie him back before we shine the tree but just as I start to wrap the lead around a small tree I seen something that did terrible things to my insides. Not ten feet from me is a pretty big mountian lion crouched and looking right at me. I can't really explain all of the emotions that were going on at that instance but when my friend started laughing I realized something wasn't right. We had gotten treed inside a mans archery range where he had all sorts of life size targets place in the woods. I was able to laugh a little bit but the night was pretty well shot for me.

One night me and a few friends where out running dogs for a little bit. After that we sat down on a log and started to hear loud screaching noises above us. We didnt think much of it, then a pup came back to us and sat down. Then the noises started up again and then we heard something swoop down through the limbs and land on the dog. We turned our lights on and it was a buzzard trying to attack the pup, then the pup finally killed it. After all that mess was done, we looked up the tree and there was about 30-40 buzzards roosting.
