Garmin Alpha ?

Had my alpha about 4 months now, have not been all that impressed with the range this has over my 320. The other week I noticed with my collar beside a friends alpha collar the differences in the two collar antennas were very noticeable, so I measure them. It turns out my collars antenna is 3 inches shorter than his, don't know but is this the cause of my units shortcomings.

He might be running long range antennas. I just made the switch from the 320 with DC40/50's with all having long range antennas on them to the Alpha with TT5/10. Just my handheld has the long range antenna on it. I like the Alpha better (other than it dropping a pin everytime you touch it), but don't think it has much if any more range than the Astro 320.

.

Few questions. Sounds like you purchased your system used. Is that correct?
If it is correct what type of game did they hunt?

The collars come new with the longer Garmin antennas. If yours are Garmin antennas and your buddies are longer Garmin antennas then they were changed before you got the system and I made the deduction they were used. Now if the other guys antennas are someone's aftermarket antenn that may explain the difference if yours was new.

Garmin

Bought the unit brand new. When I received it I registered it with Garmin and the whole 9 yds. The collar is the earlier T15 version but some of the units I have compared it to was the T15 collar also. I guess I'll have to call Garmin and see what they can do for me. It is under warranty and I am not at all satisfied. Thanks for your response.
