Night hunt Question

Night hunt chanpions question
Under the new hunt format starting in Jan. Since the Grands and Nt. Ch. will be hunting together what do you put on the trophy? Why I asked we already ordered our trophies for next year and they say 1st. place Night ch and 1st place Grand nt. ch. Has anyone else thought of this? Maybe we should of had all poor boy hunts. LOL!

They are still separate classes even though they hunt together. The high scoring NtCh would get 1st place trophy for that class, the high scoring GrNtCh would get 1st in that class. At least that's how I'd do it.

Starting Jan 1st there will be 2 classes, Registered and Champions. Would you give a trophy to the high scoring Gr Nt even though they didn't win their cast? UKC told everyone back at the end of August that there would only be 2 categories, Registered and Champions.

So Richard, there are no longer any NtCh dogs? That's to me.

Sorry, left out Nt Ch's. "Would you give a high scoring Nt Ch trophy to a Nt Ch dog that didn't win it's cast"?
With the new format, you will have a "Champions" class and you will only have cast winners "officially".. The cast winners will be reported to UKC. Now if the club wants to designate first, second and third place winners and give them awards/prizes that is up to the club. Actually, I would think that eventually winners would all get Cast Winner Trophys regardless of their score.
Now that is what y'all asked for. Surely you aren't going to complain because you got it?

Of course not. They never did that I know of. If you don't have a high scoring NtCh cast winner, then you don't give out a NtCh trophy.

The original question involved a club having already purchased NtCh and GrNtCh trophies and how to award them. That's how I'd handle it.

Agreed

Does this mean there is no longer Gr Nt champion class/casts at Autumn Oaks?

Being there is no more 1st place. I would have High Scoring Reg and High Scoring Champion. and by the way with double headers you giving away 2 sets or 1? I would do 1 dbl cast winner trumps. jmo im sure someone will take offence to this

Autumn Oaks will still be separated for Grand Nights the same as always.
Bob it looks like you have a few options you could pass out your trophies as is and you may encounter non cast winners that are your Nitech or Grnitech winner. You could give them out only when they are cast winners or you could check into new metal plates for the Champions class and pop the old ones off then stick the new ones on. Ukc has left how we give awards upto the club so whatever you decide will be fine.

I guess that if the high scoring Champion class winner was a Nt Ch you could give them one of the Nt Ch Trophys and if the high scoring Champion class dog was a Gr Nt then you could give them one of the Gr Nt Trophys.
But according to the new format, score doesn't matter. A cast win with 50+ is the same as a cast win with 500+. Will clubs continue to recognize the cast winner with the highest score or just the cast winners? This remains to be seen.

I haven't been to a local hunt that gave out trophies in 10 years.

The way I understand the new format, clubs will need to present the winners with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, placement for CAST WINS , nothing else needs to be on the trophy/plaque, if you already have your awards see if the place you ordered from will send you replacement plates for them, that's what our club has done in the past, just replace the label !
