Another Dog Food thread

Yesterday went to pick up a couple bags of Native 3, last bag I bought was $35 now $50. Decided on maybe Diamond Extreme Athlete last bag was $32 now $40. Looked at some other brands to see if they raised all of them. Many that were around $25 couple of months ago were listed now between $32 and $35.
Only ones not sky rocketed were the CHEAP brands.

I was feeding Native 4 until this last purchase, I went back to Diamond AE. I buy my feed at Menards and the interesting thing is they have all four levels of Native for the same price, $50. Their price on AE also jumped to $40. They had Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice on sale, $29. Dog food jumps around as much as gas prices.

I've been buying at Menards also. They really raised most of the prices on their dog food since Jan. I usually buy a few hundred #'s at a time. Not this time. LOL! Feeding 4 grown dogs is going to get more expensive, but then guess they are worth it, At least that's what I keep telling my wife.

Bob it's hard to go wrong with Pro Plan 30/20 Chicken or Salmon. I prefer the Salmon , especially in dogs pushed really hard and lose weight fast. If you have a dog that isn't hunted much in the summer then you could get by with just Purina One or Purina Dog Chow.

I have been feeding native level4 for at least 6 years. It has went up on me about $10 a bag since then. I have been paying $50 for about a yer now. That sounds expensive too some but it is one of the top 2-3 feeds I would feed. It is still cheaper too feed at $50 a bag than some of the feeds that are cheaper. It takes very little feed too keep dogs up.

Purina just released their new diet Pro Plan 30/20 Sport Grain Free Chicken and Egg. It's a Grain Free diet for Performance dogs. It has the highest energy I've ever seen in a dog food with 541 KCal / cup. That's pretty high. Higher than Native 4, Eukanuba Performance 30/20, Victor Ultra Pro, or Pro Plan 30/20 Salmon. The Pro Plan 30/20 Salmon is the next highest with 496 Kcal/cup. Victor Ultra Pro has 479 Kcal/cup, Eukanuba Performance 30/20 has 384 Kcal/cup. Native 4 was just under the Pro Plan 30/20 Salmon. It's not cheap but it's not bad for a high performance diet.

If you have a dog that is pushed to the max like the dogs running for a truck ticket this would be something to look into.
