Average

should be between 3 and 4 to operate at a healthy level.

Levels depend on the dog, each one is different. There are ranges like stated previously. Get it checked when your dog is operating the way you like and is looking healthy. I have been working on my dog over the past 4 months to find the right level and dosing of Synthroid. Was at 2.3 on 0.5 mg daily but still wasn't looking great. Went to twice a day, level shot up to 5.2 and she ran hot and acted "stupid." Went to 0.5 in the am and 0.25 in the evening and shes looking normal again but haven't got it checked yet. I have also found that hunting hard affects it as well.

Before u put him on pills, have them check his free T4,T3 and free T3. A lot of reasons it could be low and thyroid tablets may help it recover faster , but it can cause him to become dependent on them also. Many many dogs take them that wouldn’t need to......
