interfering with the tree

we all know that a dog can get scratched for fighting at the tree(interfering). Now this question was brought up this weekend and I see the valid point here. What about the dog that runs the tree and falls on the dog next to him and that dog leaves the tree or backs up from the tree. Know that is interfering with the tree. Should that dog be scratched for that. Let's hear you take on this.

if dog cant take being fallen on! to bad he better not grab the dog that's fallen on him! move around the tree or sit back! no rule to apply there. for a dog running a tree! some will try tho.

if a dog leaves a tree for a dog falling over on it or bumping into it while not showing any aggression then the dog who leaves would be minused. If a dog leaves with a little bumping and grinding under the tree then they didn't really wanna be there to begin with.

Shawn knows the rule. We all were just discussing at a hunt over the weekend the interference caused by dogs who run the tree. A dog that is a bad to do it causes more interference than any other situation at a tree imo.

Shawn you got to remember there’s 2 parts to that . Interference & “ aggressive behavior “ . So no you don’t have aggressive behavior here . No I don’t like a tree runner either but in this case a dog is supposed to adjust to it , lol .

Is not a scratchable offense. Rules are rules. If opinions scratched dogs I would never have to hunt with a piggy backer, chop mouth track dog, harry, trackman,or insane bred dog, facebarker , or babbling idiot.lol

Yea but if it's not aggressive behavior then it's not a scratching offense. I have both sides of this sitting on my chain at the house. I have one that will cirlcle a tree bad and jumps some at the tree but has never ever shown any aggression to anything(prob been in 15 cast) never has even gotten a warning. I also have another male that if i hunt with him that if my dog who jumps starts moving around too much at the tree he will back off and just sit down and tree. As a hunter i have a much bigger problem with one that will leave a tree because of a dog strictly running a tree(not being aggressive to other dogs) than the dog who runs a tree a little bit.

If your dog LEAVES a tree just because another one is jacking it you prob got more things to focus on with your dog than trying to scratch the tree jacker

But if he doesn't leave and tells the other dog to stop jumping on his head he's aggressive... SMH

The original question has been answered.
So, do y'all think that this only happens with Coonhounds? Did anyone watch the Kentucky Derby? The winner got scratched for "jockeying for position" with interference.

I don’t see how there is any better way too find the best coon dog that particular night than scoring dogs that tree there OWN coon. If he doesn’t tree it that means he was either to slow on that particular track or he just gave up and covered when the other dog got treed. More times than not the backer just picks his head up and comes into back!!
That’s fine if that’s what you like but I likebthe dog that actually trees the coon.

Ok if old slow and steady finishes his track but gets treed second on 2 trees. But also finishes his track with coon that ol speed demon pulled short on the 3rd tree. Which is better dog? I dont like a me to dog but I like see eyes even if takes little longer sometimes.

I understand what you are saying and I personally like a dog that is independent. But what is lost in today’s world of hounds is ones that consistently can find a track and strike first in a pack, take that track to a tree ahead of the others and locate quick and accurately. It wasn’t always a me too dog that treed second or third. Today’s dogs are good at how they operate but it was also neat to see a dog dominant a whole cast all night long, it something that is gone today.

If a dog never backs another dog ever. There is a multitude of issues that he may have that are as bad if not worse than backing another dog on the occasional tree. Always treeing alone ever tree is puppy stuff. A dog that rarely gets beat to a tree but can use his own common sense is a deadly opponent. I would think that when you have a mind set that excepts nothing else that opportunities could be missed on a truly talented individual.

When a 90lb dog runs the tree 7-8ft in the air and is landing on those trying to tree it is different than one who simply jumps at the tree. Those in the cast I think were more worried about their dogs getting injured than anything. No question was on the card because everyone knows there is no rule that covers it. Shawn was just starting a discussion on this topic.

Another issue there is how a judge sees it . I had a judge minus my dog for leaving tree when his dog fell on her and she moved back about 6 ft and sat down and started treeing again. put a question on that one hunt director settled it with a little common sence
