Advice From You All You Experts

I Got a night champion female NITECH A Double Shot Of Brandy. I am going to breed her next cycle if poss. These are the males I am considering what do you all think. Here is her PED

.GRNITECH T TOP TREE TALKIN RED RAT
..........GRNTCH GRCH T-Top Rabble Rouser
....................GRNITECH GRCH T TOP ROCK-N-RED RAVEN
GRNITECH CH Fickens Greatful Dead Red
....................GRNTCH'PR'HOBO JACK
..........GRNTCH CH Sterkis Machine Gun Annie
....................GRNTCH CH'PR'STERKIS' FAMOUS OUTLAW ANN

NITECH A DOUBLE SHOT OF BRANDY

…………………….Gr Nite Ch Dawns Timber Jack
..........Gr Nite Ch To The Maxx
....................Gr Nite Ch Jenkin's Crying Katie
GRNITECH GRCH NIGHTY NITE Amber
....................Gr Nite Ch Stepp's Little Pepper
..........Gr Nite Ch Moonlight Pepper Ann
....................Gr Nite Ch Nighty Nite Moonlight Kate

Studs I am thinking about (Open to any other suggestions)

Dual Grand Moonlight Big D (Moonlight Kate X WrongWay ace)
Hes getting old and will be one of his last few live bread litters.
Plus it free being i own him

GRCH WCH NITECH Good Nite litte D (AFTERSHOCK X AMBER)
This dog is mine not really a stud dog hes only 2 but it would double up on amber which is sorta cool and I live close enough to West VA that it is legal.

G-Man (Outlaw Jesse James JR X Outlaw Billie Jean)
If this is crossed and I end up finishing her to grand they will be 4th gen all grand pups. Not making any promises on finishing her out but I am going to try I just have to many dogs.

Allans AMOS dog (littermate to G)
He would be closer for me to get to.

I wouldn't just look at the papers or pedigree. You should also be looking for what kind of traits you want to make better, what kind of traits you want to get rid of, what traits you want to lock in.

I have found that sometimes this works better than working from papers only. Certain studs a lot of times will throw traits into any female they breed. Others they don't. I feel that these question help more than just papers alone.

What traits do I want to make stronger??

What traits do I want to get rid of??

What traits do I want to try to lock in??

What will compliment her to make her better??

I am not really an expert but I agree with Jared. Don't get hung up on papers. First honestly evaluate your female. Is she worthy of being bred? What are her good and bad traits?
Then research what traits the studs have and what they appear to be passing on to their pups. Big D is a real nice dog and he came from a whole litter of real nice hounds. But you already know that. I also try to find females bred like mine and see what lines they crossed well with. That can take some of the guesswork out of it.

Thanks, a trait that i could see needed in her is independence, whoever had her before me I think did not hunt her solo enough and she likes to pack up....Thant being said I've hunted with D, G, And my aftershock pup and all three of these dogs will contribute to that trait. Other then that I'm not dissatisfied with anything else about her.

Jarred & The King are correct, don't breed for papers! Find you a dog that you like & do research! You want what kind of dog that make you happy. When I look for a stud dog I look at what his litter was like, what he's reproducing, what his hunt style is, how he's bred. Yes I try to breed to competition style dogs. I'm a pleasure hunter that likes to win! I personally like honest strike dogs & hard goin dead loaners. Your female is a nice one, she's very competitive! When you match a pedigree like hers & the 4 dogs above mentioned I don't see where you can go wrong period! All have proven thereself in the hunts, come from long lines of proven big winning coon dogs.

I like doubling up on Amber for a really good reason.

So its Little D, Amos, or G-Man for me.

All good choices.

Decided

I've decided to go with G-Man if I can get to him when she's in heat... maybe Toney will stop runing walkers and have him somewhere that is possible for me to get to him....If I can't get to him I'm gonna go with Big D.
