GRNITECH GRCH 'PR' Key's Outlaw Razor Red - Stud Dog Thursday

This week’s article shifts back to the Redbone breed with GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Key’s Outlaw Razor Red. Red may not have the most pups on the ground, as a matter of fact, it’s not even close. He is all the way down in the mid-teens when it comes to number of puppies produced in the breed. But in the other column, the number of titled pups produced, he is alone in first with over 20 more titled hounds than the next in line. Let’s take a look at what he has done.

Razor Red is from a cross that was very successful in its own right. Born in May of 1997, 4 of the 6 hounds in his litter titled out, including Razor Red, NITECH ‘PR’ Lee’s Wild Turkey, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Noss’ So Mt Show Time Molly, and NITECH ‘PR’ Frazier’s Timber Music Goldie. This litter has accounted for 442 pups with 64 hunt titled hounds being produced.

Razor Red’s first litter was born in May of 2000, the day after he turned 3 years old. He sired some litters through the early years of the 2000s but really hit his stride in about 2003, so that is where we will start. In October of 2003, a litter was born out of Red and GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’s Triple Crown. This litter had 7 pups and 6 earned a title. Those 6 were GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Triple Threat, GRCH ‘PR’ Rokn W Razor’s Texas Wild Card, CH ‘PR’ Noss’ So. Mt. Show Time Sebastian, GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Razors Renegade, NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Two Worlds Collide, and NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Razors Titanium Tank.

In the fall of 2005, a couple well performing litters hit the ground out of Razor Red. The first was in August of 2005 out of NITECH CH ‘PR’ Sassafras Burning Breeze. 4 of the 9 pups titled out including NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH ‘PR’ Red Fever Razors Rip N Tear, GRCH NITECH ‘PR’ Fishcreeks Tru Talken Chester, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Razors Axe Blade Abe, and NITECH ‘PR’ Coffmans Notorious Miss Abby. Then one month later in September of 2005, a litter out of NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Childers’ Tree Rizin’ Star hit the ground with 4 of 7 titling out. Those 4 were CH ‘PR’ N&M’s Razor’s Little John, CH ‘PR’ Pina’s Hill Country Scarlett, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Firebrand’s Smokin With Tess, and NITECH CH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Guns-N-Roses.

Fast forward to 2007 when more exceptional litters were hitting the ground. The first was in March out of NITECH ‘PR’ Butternut Creek Red Shady Lady. Only 2 pups were born but both earned their stripes in the competition ring. GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Razor Sharp Spike and CH NITECH ‘PR’ Butternut Creek Red Music were those 2 hounds. Then in July, another litter out of NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Childers’ Tree Rizin’ Star hit the ground, this time with 5 of the 9 hounds titling out including GRCH ‘PR’ Thistle Ridge Razors Red Fritz, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Thistle Ridge Razors Red Amber, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Great River Bill’s Little Girl, CH ‘PR’ John’s Little Ann, and NITECH ‘PR’ Jenneweins Fast & Furious Fergy. This cross between Razor Red and Star was made 3 other times for a total of 5 litters, that produced 39 pups and 7 nite hunt titled hounds. Aside from the 5 we’ve already mentioned, there was also NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Razors Lockdown Logo HTX and FCH NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Crimson Creeks Redneck Woman.

2008 was also a top year for dogs out of Razor Red. From a litter born in January, 6 of 8 pups from the cross with NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Trailyn Redneck Woman titled. Those 6 were CH ‘PR’ Houtz Coon Bustin Red Copper, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Holy Terror Hank, CH ‘PR’ Chiricos CR Put Em Up Dan, GRCH ‘PR’ Razor’s Red Show Me Hickory, NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH ‘PR’ Ork Tree Rizin Up All Night, and NITECH CH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Coon Grippin’ Greta. Then in May, a litter out of GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Outlaw Annie Oakley produced 5 pups, of which 4 titled. Those 4 were NITECH ‘PR’ BNC’s Indiana Bocephus, NITECH ‘PR’ Johnson’s In Outlaw Stubs, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Lucas’s Razor’s Edge, and NITECH CH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Razor’s Ransom HTX.

As we’ve talked about, semen collection and storage has really lengthened the staying power of these top stud dogs. Although Razor Red was born back in 1997, he had pups through the late 2000s and into the late 2010s, as recent as May of 2019. One litter out of Red and GRCH(2) CCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Some Kinda Wonderful, born in March of 2013 produced 6 puppies with 3 of them titling out. Those 3 were NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin Razors 2nd Amendment, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Pruitt’s Rebel Red, and NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Tree Rizin’ Razor’s Quiet Riot. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Razor Red add more puppies and titled hounds to his overall statistics before it’s all said and done.
