Blue barrels for dog houses

I’m planning to make some dog houses out of blue plastic barrels. There is a place close to me that has them pretty cheap. They used to have windshield washer fluid in them? Can they be cleaned out and would they be safe for dog house use? If so what would I need to clean them with if I tried them? Thanks for the help.

yeah, it is possible, but make sure that the barrels are thoroughly cleaned and safe for your dogs. if the barrels have been exposed to chemicals or other hazardous materials, you should not use them
