I would say a Mr. Don Holum would know about that ,,he lived out in that neck of the woods and kept Banjo bred dogs up close for years.

Chuck

Things are going pretty good. Lots of projects around the house. Got to find reasons to play on the tractor.

When I get on the computer now, I'm usually checking out baseball sites. I follow the baseball draft like others follow the football draft.

Good luck with your Mac dogs. I know of a couple nice Mac dogs around here.

Thanks you guys I really love that old bloodline. It was and will always be apart of my foundation bloodline. I kept it pure for a reason for over 25 years. Thanks Don wait till you see the two females we are crossing on frozen semen early 2014. My old Ruby dog was of that bloodline as was Drifter and when crossed with Mears' old foundation blood I couldn't ask for anything better. And still to this day I have the same hunting quality on track as well as tree. Have a great day everyone! I know that I still have that bloodline. I wish I would of kept frozen semen the dogs in my past. Bruce is to be collected when we go for the breeding soon. We have Nancy linebred bred Radar due in Dec 3 to Bruce but we are sold for the next three litters. Again have a good one! I love that old blood!

Matt, back in 95 or 96 I was looking at a pedigree of an old Nt.Ch. that had Johnson's Banjo 3 times in his 3rd gen . Kinda a long story why I didn't breed a young female to him but at any rate ,the guy that owned him had 2 young pups out of him that looked like a matched set of bookends . I would say if a man looked hard enough he might find Banjo in the fifth gen on some old dog hidden up a hollow somewhere .

Can anyone tell me if GRNITECH Greggs Banjo Style was off Johnson's Banjo or a son? I have an old female, from an old timer here in CA, Charley Pankey, and he always talked about how she was heavy Johnson's Banjo bred. Looking at her 6/7 gen that appears correct.

If I remember correctly Paul told me that his uncle brought two dogs from Indiana that carried Mack Twain breeding that were the grandparents of Rowdy and the only reason that he called "Rowdy" Banjo Style was because he was a very loud treedog like a banjo dog.
Most of the popular stud dog owners used females from Rowdy to make their dogs reproducers. Is there anyone still breeding the old Deer Creek bloodline?

Great Thread,

I know I'm a little late but I just got done reading this thread and am so impressed with all the knowledge everyone is sharing. I felt like I was a kid again setting out in the wood shed listening to all the old timers talking about all the big name dogs in our area at the time. ( late 70's mid-eastern Illinois ) Good reading really enjoyed it. God bless and Good hunting to all.
