a serious Question about sires and breeding

I have a question on the litter registration it states a male dog as sire can only be between the age of 8 months and 12 years of age then how could someone breed to chilled semen from a stud dog that is deceased or past the age of 12 years old and register the litter

does UKC still accept semen or a dog that is over 12yrs of age or deceased cause if so why does it state sire must be between 8 months and 12 years old age at time of breeding on the litter registration

Think you need to sign paper statement that dog is still alive and able to mate at 12+ years old. On the semen part, DNA is run so you know it was from said dog. If dog had DNA run it wouldn't be a problem, and easy to prove. I believe they came up with that due to dogs lifespan might be normal around 11 years, sort of a double check method to make sure.

I dont believe there are any age limits.

UKC just reserves the right to require DNA testing on any breeding outside those ages for obvoius reasons.

I registered a litter from a 12+ yr old male with no problems at all.

On Litter Registration it says :

Sire’s registered name and UKC® registration number. Indicate the Sire's registered name and UKC Registration Number in this section. The Sire Registrant (Owner) at the time of breeding as recorded by UKC records must sign his/her name(s) as it/they appear on the Sire's Registration Certificate. Sire must be permanently registered before the litter may be registered (permanent registration may be requested at the same time as the litter registration application.) Note: Sire must be between 8 months and 12 years of age at the time of breeding.
