I have had several people message me about what supplements my dad is taking. So I thought I would post here for anyone who needs to can read. Feel free to add your own ideas or things you or family memebers have tried.
When my daddy was diagnosed my world fell apart then I went into research mode reading and studing everything I could get my hands on. In a couple of months it will be one year since his diagnosis of stage 4 non small cell lung cancer, stage 4 because it had spread to his brain, hip, spine and a small spot on one kidney. My dad goes to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, MO for his treatments and has been very happy with his care and team there. I told him they are going to take you to the brink with this chemo and radiation and I'm going to do everything I can to make your body strong enough to handle it. (If it were me I would not do chemotherapy but it is a personal choice each person and there family must decide.)
This is the regimine Dad does, some he doesn't mind, he can swallow pills lol, it's the foods and teas he sometimes has to choke down. My mom is a heck of a cook and creatively can hide things he doesn't know are in there. He still enjoys all his favorite man food to, there is no point in not eating what you love but adding a little extra healthy stuff can't hurt.
Colloidal silver - I started dad out at 1tsp 3x a day he has increaed to 3tbs 3x a day. Some people take significantly more. With him having lung cancer one of the most important things he can do is to use it in a nebulizer once a day to get it straight to the heart of the problem.
Probiotic - everyday, so much of our immune system is in our gut it is very important to keep it healthy and a good balance of the proper bacteria in it for a strong natural immune system. Eating active cultures yogurt is also a plus.
B17 - (amygdalin) this can be found at your local herb store as can everything else on the list. FDA considers it controversial but that makes me think it may be something lol.
Zinc - supplement for immune system. Once daily.
Vit C - important for immune health and the body does not store it so it needs to be taken and eaten/drank in plentiful doses everyday.
Selenium - found in many foods meats/dairy/vegrtables/seeds & nuts but also can be taken as a supplement. Add to diet by eating plenty of seeds and some nuts (sunflower, walnuts, brazil nuts are great) selenium is best when used with adequate doses of Vit A and E.
Curcumin - this is found in tumeric which can be added to just about anything you cook (I do) but take the supplement also. Boost immune system cancer fighting properties.
Pau D'Arco tea - not dad's favorite lol but it's not bad when mixed with regular tea but they also make a pill if it can't be tolerated. This is a very important in many South American treatments you can read on if you wish. Fights inflammation, candida, cancer, pain and antioxidant properties. Can be mixed with regular tea, makes it taste better!
Local honey and bee propolis - both are great natural fighters, you will find the propolis at herb store it has great cancer fighting abilities. The honey you can put in tea, on toast whatever.
Essiac herbal extract - (burdock root, slippery elm, sheep sorrell, Indian rhubarb root)Supports immune system and fights cancers. Take an hour or so before meals.
Fish oil - once daily.
Multi vitamin - prenatal vitamins are great I like the gummies they actually taste good!
Boswellia Serrata- (Frankincense) helps increase circulation, combat inflammation great cancer fighter.
Fresh garlic - garlic is one of the best natural fighters for our immune system out there. Put it on everything. (Also in a warm oil will cure an ear ache, just fyi)
Baking soda - just a teaspoon a day in a cup of water. Helps keep the bodies ph in balance. Also helps get gas off the stomach and settle upset stomach.
Kelp - seaweed (can find extracts and supplememts)
AHCC - (mushroom) Chinese cure.
If you could get your hands on cannibis oil if not purchase hemp oil from the web, some eat some take the caps. I have not gotten any cannibis oil, felony here for what I would like for him lol. Many cancer patients that can get the straight cannibis oil not cut buy a carrier oil (the kids that use call it a dab around here) are making suppositories with it and coconut oil. Starting with a very small dose then working up to 1ml a day. The suppository use by passes the liver so they don't get the big head high with the dose but get the benefits, pain relief, anti-nausea ect.
Diet - high in leafy greens broccoli, spinach. cauliflower ect. Nuts and seeds, no peanuts, bright colored fruits and veggies, tomatoes and berries are great. Plenty of fish and beans. Cottage cheese and yogurt. Sunshine!! Vitamin D is very important when the temp is tolerable expose 70% of the body to the sun for 30 min or so. Ever wonder why everyone gets sick in the winter? It's lack of vitamin D. Buy milk and juice fortified with Vit D to help. Mushrooms are great for the immune system and the Chinese believe in their cancer fighting and tumor reducing properties. Diet low in white sugar. Add coconut oil and olive oil. parsley and ginger. I cook alot with coconut oil and sometimes just choke down a spoon plain, it's also good for the hair and skin can be used like lotion. Potassium through fruits like bananas. Cinnamon. Lots of water even if it's in tea  . Many cancer fighters are juicing fresh fruits and veggies, this is not my dad's thing, he prefers to eat whatever mom cooks lol.
Some kind of exercise everyday, just something that gets the heart rate up for a few minutes, jump, jog walk quickly for a couple of minutes, whatever. Cancer cannot survive in oxygen rich enviroments getting a rush of oxygen plentiful blood to cells is important even on bad days.
Dad thinks I'm crazy on this one but baking soda with Epsom salt baths especially after radiation treatment. The skin is the bodies largest organ. If he was a woman he would be all about it!
Like most of us dad enjoys a good nap and now he takes one everyday if time allows. He has been doing chemo since last April usually every 3 weeks. So far he still has a head full of hair, his weight is pretty much the same and he is still farming and busy, not suffered from nausea like most do. He knows that usually day 3 after chemo is a crappy day and mom makes him some soup he takes a couple Tylenol and hangs out in his chair, it is his day off.
The most important thing my dad does is LIVE, he has taken the opinion that everyone is going to die someday that we all have a number to be called and until then he is going to live and love life.
