Htx ? For Allen Or Ukc Rep

We have an older man who still walk hunts his dogs. Don't get me wrong the dogs go hunt. They hunt out to about 300 yards in all directions from him. but after that they come back if they don't strike. My ? is, are you allowed to walk up the ditch as the dog hunts ahead or around you? Like the old way of hunting. I know the new way is to sit at the truck garmin in hand and then drive around to the closest point to the dog. This older man is not going to nite ch out his dogs, even though they would easy. but seemed like he might HTX em. I had a guy tell me UKC said you can't hunt them that way, but want to get it from the horse's mouth if you can or not. Trust me I don't want to cheapin the title, some may not follow the rules but when I hunt or judge they pass or fail according to the rules. 1 full hour, out on the second fault, and must tree a coon that I see. And yes if it's slick it's slick and a fault. But if a dog hunts out 300 yrds and doesn't strike and comes in, I can't fault it if that's how it's been trained, can I?

Requirements Defined A) Went Hunting - Dog must go hunting alone and search for track. Hunters may proceed slowly in the direction they wish to hunt but are not to walk a dog that will not go hunting without first considering it one fault.
Found on the front page the front page where it states HTX rules.
No where can I find where you have to sit on the tail gate.
It states you can walk slowly in the direction you want to hunt,
if the dog leaves you and goes hunting.
