Just heard on the news that we are sending Ukrainians helicopters that we bought from Russia to fight the Russians with. Sounds like we are fighting the war with Russia by aproxy.

Yes, instead of sending troops; we are arming the Ukrainian troops and they are doing the fighting. Let's see how this works. It may be a model for future wars.

The war in Ukraine has been going on for less that 3 months. By contrast the US was involved in the Vietnam War for about 11 years and the War in Afghanastan for 20 years. The invasion of Iraq only lasted 6 weeks but it was 7 years before the last of our combat troops left.
