How do I get

A dog more interested in treeing ?? He will tree few secs and check trees all around other dogs treed but won’t tree on same tree and don’t tree very hard. He goes right with other dogs step for step and is working the tree with his nose

How old is this dog? Don't really worry about making him tree if he is real young. A dog using his nose and checking trees will soon learn what they are doing, most dogs like that end up being more accurate tree dogs. Pushing them to tree causes slick tree monsters, better to just let it happen slowly, patience is needed. You want accuracy in the long run over just treeing mentality. Hope this helps old buddy. Dave

It would not hurt to turn a few coons loose, but don't overdo it, sounds like the squirrel part has him looking more , especially if he saw squirrel timbering out. I suspect he will put it together with more hunting time. Tie him back when the other dogs tree and you shoot the coon out to them, then let him mouth the coon, this should help. I think he will be a accurate tree dog when he puts it all together . Dave

Push him hard alone. if he want hunt/strike/ and tree alone you don't have much at that age. keep him away from other dogs.
