I got one bite a few years ago on a super cold freeze your hands off without gloves winter night. Dog treed high on the mountain in the Rick bluffs. Snake do not hibernate, they are active all winter in their dens crawling around in their dens. I have watched videos of den activity in the winter, they placed cameras in the den to capture the snakes activity. Taught me a valuable lesson about looking in rock holes on the mountains where we have rattlesnakes, it pays to watch that kind of behavior, I would say you would get a stronger dose, due to the fact they are not feeding and using their venom.
