My female just started bleeding today and I have a big hunt next week. Is there a pill to make a female go out of heat and if so were can you purchase these at??

I don't think you can get them anymore. Vets say it causes more problems than it's worth .

It was called Ovaban.

DONT EVER USE IT, IF ITS STILL AVAILABLE!

In my experience with it, it did stop the female from smelling enough to hunt her in the hunt, but she was still crazy like they are when they're in heat, and it messed up her heat cycles for years.

I wouldn't use it either. In my experience with the one female I gave it to she never had a normal heat cycle the rest of her life. Glad it's off the market.

Ask your druggist for Megestrol acetate ( Megace) . 20mg for small dog 40mg for large dog. Get 5 pills and start them the first sign of any swelling or discharge. Give 1 a day for the 5 days and she will go back out. I have used this for years and never had any problems. My druggist is a old coon hunter and he told me about this years ago.

It's just like everything else some don't like it. I've used it multiple times and never had an issue had regular cycles every time and had litters after that. 4 years ago after zones my bitch started bleeding on Sunday started on Ovaban completely done by tuesday before world finals. I would'nt hesitate to use it again. I do double up on the dose for the first 3 days to knock them out of heat.
