New Pups!!! And question?

My pair of Blacks just had 8 beautiful pups on Monday. As of tonight all are still doing well.

I actually have a a question.

First a little background on the hounds...
My hounds are both B&T throwbacks from Redbones.
The male is just over 7 years old and female is just over 5.

Three of the pups are a rich chocolate in color with pink noses and pads.

My first thought was that another dog got to her but I ruled that out.

My second thought and possible conclusion is that it has something to do with the Redbone genes from the parents.

What do you guys think? Anyone else have an experience with this?

(Mods... can I re-post this in the Redbone forum also?)

I heard awhile back a guy was trying to breed for the chocolate colored traits. I don't know why some come out chocolate colored but have always wanted one (I like to be different lol). If you ever find out why let me know. And just to be clear are you saying two redbones threw black and tans. If so I didn't know it was possible. But good luck with the pups.

Yes. Redbones will occasionally throw a black. I believe Redbones where breed out of Black and Tans.

WE Had 2 in One Litter Years Ago

We Had them DNA'ed. Their DNA came out B&T. We thought maybe our Lab. Retriever got to her some how. Even though we knew he couldn't have. They blackened up as they got older. But, Some Don't Change. Our Pups Paw Pads & Noses were not Pink. We have Triple Ruby (Driving Miss Ruby) in that Litter. And we were told that Bloodline has thrown Browns. We Did Not Register those two pups. We just gave them to 2 young hunters.
Good Luck with Yours,
Gale Lilly

My first litter out of GR Ch Hurricane LudaBell X Nite ChGRCh Hurricane Dozer , threw four Choclate pups 3 males and one female. She was the only female of the litter.
I had to give them away practicley. I did alot of questioning and investigating. Only thing I could come up with in theory was some kind of genetic mutation like goin on. Almost kind of like Albinisom.
(But they did not have pink noses)

we have raised blk angus cows as long as i can remember and get a few red angus calves every year, seem some just carry the gene and line or inbreding seem to bring the color out more frequently
