I hope you were kidding, why would anyone want a mean dog is beyond me. I don't care how bad azz a dog is, it's going to meet one that even badder, just like a man that thinks he's bad until he meets a man that really bad. Tolerating a mean dog can never be a good thing. Dave

Lots of trees in a woods, no reason for 2 or more dogs to be on the same one.

I’ll sell him but wouldn’t hunt with him he five years old and a good dog. Only had him a month ago when realized he was aggressive at the the tree.

Lol. That's a reason some handlers and dogs WILL meet their match. Personally, I won't tolerate that kind of behavior from a dog or handler, that's just a problem waiting to happen. Dave

Mean at the tree is the same as mean at the bay...that dog should only be hunted alone and never bred...

These type of dogs can and will ruin subordinate dogs, especially pups...

I will not hunt a dog with that fault...

Thanks for all the replies. I feel that a mean dog has no business in a hunt or training in any pup.

Anyone with this attitude should be sent home when they pull up to the clubhouse.

Since you are serious about hunting a mean dog, I have a question. What are you going to do when your mean dog picks on the wrong handlers dog and that handler takes out his anger on you? Don't think it won't happen, it will in time, and you better be prepared to take the consequences. I still hope you are not being serious, but in case, remember what I am telling you. Dave

Does Wild Willie have any tricks to make a dog more aggresive? Can he teach a timid dog to stay treed when an aggressive dog starts blowing and face barking? One of the best dogs I ever had would have first and first on every tree but would leave when another dog came in and started blowing.

There is definently a market for a mean 1 as long as he does it out of sight. Mine wants to whoop them on the leash no market for them kind.

Unfortunately, you may be right, however, that just shows how low some folks will go in order to win a hunt. In anyone's mind this kind of behavior should be eliminated not condoned or encouraged. Myself, I think more of my fellow hunters than I do about winning a hunt with a mean dog. I want to win by having a better coon dog not a alligator that runs dogs off the tree and wins by default. How can anyone be proud to hunt that kind of dog? Dave

I didn’t realize that people wanted a mean dog I have more respect for my fellow hunters than knowingly hunt a mean dog in a hunt.

Some handlers have respect for other handlers and their dogs. Other handlers only care about themselves and their own dog. If their dog attacks another dog or runs it off a tree, it was the other dogs fault for just being there.

Most don't want a "mean" dog. Most want a dog that will stay treed, and stay with the devil if need be. I'm no different, I want 1 to stay treed no matter how hot the fire gets. But I don't care for 1 that covers others and runs them off trees. I had 1 and it didn't live long. I've had a few I'd classify as mean that did live, only to be hunted alone by a old pleasure hunter.

I am positive most folks are like you and I, we only have a very small percentage of hunters that would want a mean dog. I think 1 hunter wanting a mean dog is to many. If you can not win by having a better coon dog, you do not have anything to be proud of. There is no honor in winning by default, you might just as well buy you a trophy, it would mean just as much. A bully dog is no different that a bully man, it's just a matter of time until they meet their match, karma is a bit*h. Dave
