Zig

Hi,
We will have pictures of his pups out of different females posted on here soon. You can see for yourself how uniform his pups are. We will also post the old pictures of his pedigree...Trap and her World Show Champion littermate, Radar. We will also post their sire and dam, which is Dancer and Jane.

Zig goes back to Finley River Chief over 90 times. He goes back to Finley River Dan 30 times. He goes back to Finley River Dan 3 over 21 times. He goes back to Finley River Trap 4 times. He goes back to Finley River Zoom twice, being a grandson on top and a greatgrandson on the bottom. Finley River line bred as good as you can get.

When Zig is bred to my Trap female, Finley River Chief will be in that pedigree over 300 times. I don't know where you can go to get a heavier bred Finley River pup.

Roger Prater's Buddy, Hank, Country, Hankerson, and Teddy stud dogs all go back to Radar or Trap. Some go back to them more than once. Some of Roger's females go back to Trap and Radar also. Roger owns Zig's littermate sister, Crystal. Radar and Trap are the foundation for those dogs.

Roger has been producing nice pups. I have 2 that I plan to use in my breeding program.

I have had this same line of dogs since 1978. They are line bred to keep those old Finley River traits. This strain of Walkers are known for treeing coons in extreme weather conditions..hot or cold... wet or dry.

Hi,

That pup you wanted out of Zig and Jewell will be here in the spring. They should be the kind of pup you like. She won MCHF show dog of the Year and I didnt want to breed her during the race. She missed 3 weekends of showing and still managed to win.

The Sugar pup on this thread is a typical looking female pup out of Zig with a big mouth. She had not shed off her puppy hair. Old time Finley River trait alive and well in this pup. Her mother's pedigree is listed here also.

Zig dosesn't walk on water or save souls or the Walker breed. He just trees coon ...track after track. Come for a hunt or call Mike Warlick for a reference on Zig. He drove 900 miles one way to hunt with him on a cold, frosty, moonlit night. 704-477-8377. Mike is putting some pics on here of Zig treeing some Missouri coons.

Trap or Trap 2 was never bred to 44. Must have been a different female.

Zig and my females

Hi,

I hunt my females during coon season to catch coons. I raise pups out of them to keep the traits that I like alive in the Finley River strain. Sometimes I miss the female Zig is breeding. Not his fault, it is mine. I am not paying big prices to have ovulation tests done or semen drawn or females AI. I breed him 1 time to a female in heat. I dont like large litters of pups. My experience tells me 5-6 pups is optimum. I am here to put a pup on the ground you would be proud of. I raise pups to suit me. They have to have coon treeing ability, yard dog smarts, a reproducing pedigree of the traits I prefer. Plus, a big mouth and good looking enough to win most any bench show.

Zig x Jewell

That's good news. I like the Pearl dogs and really want to try one out of Zig. I might be wrong on the female. Teddy just told me about it one time , His stud fee pup got killed at around 2. He didnt remember the female's name but He said Tom Wilburs owned her and she was atleast out of Trap

Zig and Ramblin Jane pup

Hi Richard,

Glad you like your pup. He really caught my eye. I hope he is another Dual Gr. Ch. PKC Ch. Finley River Zoom.

Zoom was out of Trap. Trap stamped all her pups. She continues to stamp those pups in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations. The more times you get her in the pedigree, the more those pups look like her and tree coons like her.

Richard owned and campaigned Zoom until he sold him to John Monroe. John owned Zoom until he died. He said Zoom was the dog he was looking for to replace Finley River Joe in an ad he ran in the American Cooner.That ad is on page 3 of this thread. Zig is right below. Zig is a grandson of Zoom on the topside and a greatgrandson on the bottomside.

Jewell and Hawk

Hi,

Hawk and Jewell are half brother and sister. Both are out of Nt. Ch. Gr. Ch. Table Rock Pearl.

Jewell's sire is Kalahari. He is a son of Southfork River Jammin Mundar. Nite Hawk is in the 3rd generation.

Hawk's sire is Honest Abe. Abe has Finley River Dan,Spring Creek Rock, Gold Creek Mundo, and Table Rock Flying Hawk numerous times in his pedigree. Honest Abe has more titles than I can remember. I will have some pups out of Hawk next year. Hawk will be a performance sire.

Zig

Hi,

Took Zig for 2 drops last night. He hasn't been off the chain since March. Moon was up bright when Roger Rowan, his girlfriend Shawna, and I left the house at 2330. He treed 2 single coons on the outside.

This is what I have always liked about my Finley River Dan3 strain of hounds. It is like I had never quit hunting him for 6 months. Boys, this strain was bred to be coondogs.

Call Roger 573-682-4354 or 660-346-7245. Ask him anything you want to know about Zig. I have nothing to hide. Roger will tell you straight.

I don't spend a lot of money on ads. I don't have multiple stud dogs. I don't tell people my stud dog has seizures and I can't hunt him or I have a big show coming up. I hunt a coondog. Zig made Gr. Ch. easy, even with all the hunting scars on his face from killing coons.

Zig is a coondog. He is HEAVY Finley River bred. End of story. Come for a hunt.

Hi,

God bless you Roger and your wife and family. Roger owns a littermate sister to Zig and she is the real deal. Several of his dogs go back to Trap or her littermate, World Show Champion Gr. Ch. Finley River Radar. He ran and treed coons. He just happened to win a World Show.

Hi,

Roger came for another hunt Saturday night. We left about midnight. Zig treed the first coon without a bark on the ground. Layup artist. The coon was in a big fork of a huge oak tree, curled up. Turned him loose from there. He struck in a fence row. Ran the track about 300 yards and treed in a towering pin oak. Looked for 10 minutes and couldn't find the coon. Walked away from the tree and out in the cornfield we looked back. There he sat...high in the tree almost to the top.

Zig is a coondog. Come for a hunt.

Zig and Cadillac Jane

Hi,

Took Zig and Jane for a drop. Left the house about 0300 Monday morning. Got them out of the box and turned them down an old field road in a huge bottom. Zig went straight ahead veered off to the right and struck. Jane wheeled behind me the instant I unsnapped her. She flew into the creek, crossed it and treed. Saw that coon sitting up without the light. The moon was so bright it looked like daytime making a shadow when you walked. Lead her back across the creek and turned her into Zig. She hustled down there to him and opened . They worked it for a few more minutes and then the race was on. They treed in a big burr oak tree. That coon was nervous when I got there and was looking for a place to go. I had a good laugh watching him pace. I petted the dogs and gave them an oreo and we went home. Come for a hunt.

Zig

Hi,

Left the house this morning about 0400. Turned Zig and Jewell loose in a creek bottom about 0430. Zig went straight down the creek and Jewell crossed the creek and went to the left. Wind blowing about 10-15 mph. Jewell opened and was moving the track like a freight train. Zig struck and went to the right. Jewell barked a few more times and then silence. Zig trailed on ahead and treed. Went to Zig's tree. He had Mr. coon who had been out feeding all night and laying up. Took me about 30 minutes to get to him. Petted him and gave him an oreo. Headed back toward the truck. Never heard Jewell. Put Zig in the truck and crossed the creek to see where Jewell was. Never heard her so I just kept walking. Went to an irrigation lake that was on this side to see if she treed one in the ground around the lake. Found her with one muddy, wet coon on the bank. She was chewing on him and shaking him once and awhile. Put the leash on her. Petted her and gave her an oreo. Off to the truck with the happy hunter. Come for a hunt. We work the night shift.
