Another Scoring ?

3 dog cast. Towards the end of the hunt one dog is treed and handled. Its a larger brush pile pushed up into a couple trees. The handler takes a minute to shine and says circle its let go. Second member of the cast agrees. Third member says I think I see an set of eyes, really low. Handler of dog treed immediately said if it's a opossum he wants his full shine time to find a coon. Here its a kit coon. Other 2 handlers said you can't plus because you already said to circle it. Should dog get plused or circled?

This situation or something similar may or may have not happened.

Until the judge of the cast makes an official call that a tree is closed its still open. Did the cast judge call the tree closed?

Scoring

Plus points, it does not matter what handler said. All that matters, is what is seen, if it had been an opossum the points would be minus. A handler can not dictate how it is scored contrary to the evidence. Dave

Yes, cast judge was handler of dog treed. All members were on the same page to circle and third member seen set of eyes as dog was getting handled out of brush pile by other 2 members.

Oh my goodness, even I can answer that one. Did dog tree a coon? Was it seen during shine time?

Do the rules state " eight minutes of shine time" or do they say "until a handler says circle it"

.

I think we should all take a deep breath and use the rules to determine which dog done the best job.

I bet if someone said they agreed to circle it then saw a possum. The would want minus. Because a coon was seen they want to stick with circle.

The rules are to determine the best dog and give that dog credit. They are now being used for everything but that.

Can you not change your mind? What if you see eyes and said plus it up but then another handler says wait that is a possum. Can you change your mind and minus it?

True story... Hammering Earl was in World Finals and leading his cast on Fri night by a bunch. He got treed by himself and when they got to the tree non-hunting judge said, "there he is, plus him up". Then, a big house cat ran down the tree and jumped out right in front of them. Needless to say, Earl got scratched.

As long as the 8 was not up the tree isn't scored until the entire cast gives their vote.
